Wish we had thought of this year's ago. It would've been great to see 4 LMP900s and 3 LMP675s race each other for 6 hours.

Edit: I wasn' talking about PLM or one of the other NAEC rounds, just one or two of the regular rounds. Cutting a race or two from the GTD calender would probably not be unwelcome for what's supposed to be an amateur/budget class. Last edited by Speed-King; 9 Jun 2017 at 19:51. |

Or - with Honda hopefully joining the prototype ranks - go back to Mid Ohio for a prototype only race with or without Indycar.

Dude somehow thinks lowering the race time by 4 hours will be exponentially cheaper, completely forgetting that the teams will still be at the tracks for the same amount of days. Same amount of hotel costs, food, etc.

You'd maybe save a few grand on fuel and tyres, but that's about it. But longer races can allow you to run an additional pay driver too, which some teams use. Not sure if that's popular in IMSA, but it certainly is over in Europe.
I can't think of any major teams that run both Blancpain and IMSA, so I don't see why moving the Glen closer to Spa would be a problem. I do think it needs to be moved away from Le Mans a bit though. That would make it more of a possibility of attracting some European LMP2s. If that's what they want of course - if they don't want that then it doesn't matter. |

I really like the WGI race on the weekend it is. Independence Day weekend, so it gets a bit rowdy at the track re: fireworks and such.

I betcha class color code changes with 3 of them instead of 4. I would like to see this: DPI at red (stands pat), GTLM at green (to match GTE Pro), GTD at blue (its available and they were blue in 2014/2015).

The green leader lights show up better than the blue ones.
Rolex 24 tickets went on sale today - infield camping and parking is already sold out. |

I have been busy at work and didn't get a chance to order mine - looks like I'll be spending $300 for a camping pass again lol.

I'd love to see the super hi-res of this. Looks like it's 2016, I can allllllllllmost see my rental car. They really should fill in the lake up til that first dock - more camping space and throw a few grandstands/bud party porch in the infield next to the bus stop.

I see tons of extra space there, you could camp on the "outside" of the infield, or all around that Daytona logo, or why can't you camp on the lake? Seems like we do that every few years at Petit, just bring a few hay bales.

But you can't view it up close from the infield, to the best of my knowledge. |

I'd always buy my Rolex 24 ticket when I'd go to the vintage races in November. I'd always been able to get infield parking until the 2016 race, but was still able to get an infield camping pass at the same price to get in.
Last year I tried to get tickets a couple months earlier but parking and camping was sold out so I ended up in lot 5. This year I tried to buy tickets the afternoon they went on sale and it was all sold out. They sent me emails to renew my tickets but when I tried to do that it said I had no tickets to renew and the only tickets I'd ever bought were for the 2014 Rolex 24 and the 2011 Southern 500. In actuality I've been to nearly every Rolex/Sunbank 24 since 1984 and always buy from the track. I figured, no big deal, no way it'll sell out the first day. And there's not even an option to buy Lot 5 tickets currently so I don't know if those are sold out. When I was a kid we'd show up on race day with no tickets and go right into the infield. The problem now is nearly the entire infield is reserved for displays and car corrals. The worst is the corvette corral which takes up the giant field inside turn 4 and is never more than 10% full if that. |
