[VASC17R13R134 Watpac Townsville 400: 7-9 Jul
3 weeks til the next round, in sunny Townsville.
Some teams will head back to the Gold Coast, Albury or Melbourne and then make the trip back up the highway to FNQ... Others will spend tomorrow preparing their cars for the puddle jump East. Some will be tearing their hair out, wondering what to do with setup. The Fakarwee engineering solution has clearly not worked at WP, Prodrive and a few others... So.. who will win in Townsville? Can DJRTP get the job done? Again. Or will 888 shake the demons out of #97 (or as rumoured put a new chassis almost built on the track) to be a force again? It's going to be great... |

Methinks the hoodoo in the #97 car was resolved over the weekend, however much setup time was lost in doing so.
I think once again, the usuals will be up the front, with perhaps a smokey from each of the mid-pack runners. |

Walkinshaw have historically been quick on street circuits, but are they too far gone to even be competitive in their 'sweet-zone'...?

Not sure Burgess is crying his eyes out right now either. Any word if he is a free agent, or does he have to serve out some gardening leave?

Back to the topic on hand, Walkinshaw are a smokey. So will be Erebus. I think it'll be another Johnson-Penske round. |

I dont think he is on "gardening leave". As i believe he can go elsewhere if he wants. However he is sitting back having family time

Bright yes, Lowndes never really jumped around. Only reason why he jumped from 00 and FPR was because let's be honest, their cars were pieces of rubbish. (FPR in 2004 especially could make current day Honda F1 blush with grenade engines)

They shouldn't be taking anything for granted but if they do have a shocker here, the heat will be turned up even more on them. A failure on a street circuit which has been their sweet spot? Uh-oh...

It was -5 here the other day.
If you get a chance, head on up there. I've been three years and Townsville in July is a great (warm) place to be... |

Brighty's car looks a lot better in that livery.
The FG-X has an aggressive front and was kinda lost with the old look. |
