BTCC 2017 - Rounds 28, 29, 30 - Brands Hatch GP
Turkington VS Sutton for the title - who will win?
I'd be an amazing achievement for Sutton to win it, both as this is only his 2nd year, but also as he came out of Brands Indy with 0 points! |

As much as I like Turkington, I'd love to see Ash winning the title. He's been absolutely sensational this year, his drive was absolutely impressive. That would be a massive achievement but I'm pretty sure that Turks will be very strong. Hopefully, a great battle is ahead and the title will be won during the last race of the season. I keep my fingers crossed for Sutton but I feel BMW will be stronger at Brands.

Nothing against Sutton as he is clear a bit of a talent, but can't shake the feeling that his championship would be slightly tainted. TOCA have been messing around with boost more that usual this year, especially on the Subarus. Looking back it's clear that the calculations may have gone a bit to far - does anyone really believe Cole's performance at Rockingham was solely on merit?
Sutton has obviously been benefiting from that. Would he have go the same results without TOCA's meddling? I don't know; maybe he would have done, but that's always going to be at the back of mind. |

I think the title will be Suttons. The BMW's never go very well at Brands GP. I guess it will be too cold and too fast a track for them to perform at their best.

I feel like the Subaru is so consistently quick at nearly every circuit now that it's Sutton's in the bag, unless TOCA decide to continue to hand out dodgy penalties.

yes , there are dozens here who tried to explain that it is so when TOCA themselves proved them wrong when it cut the Subaru boost after Silverstone practice BTW should we really route for Colin ??? cos everytime he won the title he lost his WSR seat |

The other question is whether Collard's or Burns' car will be repaired or not, or even if Will is able to drive?

Not seen many pictures of Burns' car so don't know how much damage there was. Again, they do have a spare chassis that could be built up if required. I suspect the issue may be more driver than car. Depending on how bad the fractures are, he could be strapped up and still race. |

I'm looking forward to it, it's building up nicely to be a good one. I'm a fan of Colin, but what an achievement for Ash, in only his second season of tin tops, that would be a first. And he'd be the first since Aiello to win the title after scoring a big 0 in the first meeting

Im guessing that the championship decider wont be clean, Gloves are off, WSR have kept their heads down and plugged away at making the title challenge a sensible points makes prizes challenge, usually hammered by driving standards, but Colin always rises to the top, Sutton is a Talent , no doubts at all, but his challenge has been tarnished slightly by the Subaru technical moving goal posts, I really don,t see the logic in bringing a technical masterpiece to the series , spending lots of money in the process to then have a handicap applied to slow it down, it goes against all the NGTC cost saving its supposed to be .
I think we will see Tom Ingram mixing it up for them, Shedden will fight back with help from Neal, but the big question is this ? who out of WSR and BMR/888 camps help their team mates by getting in the way, Sutton has 5 players, Colin has 2. Its going to Interesting for sure,It needs to stop being a crashfest though , TCR is looming boys ,you are in the spot light. . Never the less Il be on the edge of my seat Im sure . |

It needs to be clean for Sutton. He's already had 3 strikes this year, so any reprimand in the first 2 races regardless of how small will see him banned for the next race.
If that happens and he races under appeal it could be months before the championship is decided. |

but there a question here, what happens if the 3/6 strike happens on race 3 as there no more races until 2018 and people could be else where

Interesting that they didn't chose to prepare the spare shell I thought they had? I'm sure the chasis master redshoes can explain! Collard swicthes chasis too according to TCT, so a lot of damage... Last edited by luckn002; 26 Sep 2017 at 13:19. |

Not surprised, that was a lot of damage to the car and it is probably best to err on the side of caution with his injuries. I too hope he comes back, he hasn't done too bad, despite not getting any points, although he's been close a couple of times

Yep, TOCA have quite rightly accepted it as Force Majure. Still hope Burns can find a budget for next season

Does anyone know the total number of penalties for each driver this year, and anyone (apart from Sutton) who is one strike away?

Although there are still some outstanding judicial matters from Silverstone that the stewards will be looking at before Brands, so that could change. |

Sutton is fast... certainly one of the top five drivers in the BTCC right now, so he definitely should be up there. |

Can't believe we're having discussions about Sutton's talent or claim to the title. What a joke.
The guy was epic in Clio Cup, won in an MG shed and absolutely thrashed JP in his first season of RWD tin-tops. Legend. |
