It's all about tiny fractions these days and if you have a lack of confidence in the car to do what you want in the crucial zones those hundredths lost soon add up.

...his car doesn't have a front end remember. The tow truck that's dragging it round is doing it's best!

Cook, Smiley, Tordoff top 3.
Cook seems to have put the last half of '17 behind him, well deserved! Smiley really impressing, hopefully he can give BTC Norlin another podium. Shame for Hill, second year running now. |

Yes indeed. Plato and Neal can't keep up with the kids anymore; time catches up with us all ☹

And this point with BMR I'm almost thinking Plato will be out before the end of the season and the team won't be back next year. Just hope Subaru doesn't pull support Ã* la Infiniti. Hope they can turn it around and it's just me being overly pessimistic as usual!

Yes, the Subaru appears doomed. Clearly the added weight to increase the COG took away it's party trick and what we're left with is an oversized underperforming lump like the Volvo 850 Estate before it.
That Sutton took the championship is one heck of an achievement. Wonder how much Carl Fauxs departure (and last year his reduced direct involvement with JP) correlates with the struggles. Clearly Faux is bloody good at engineering cars. One thing is certain: JPs belief that RWD was an inherent advantage is undeniably wrong. WSR and the BMW 1 are brilliant, but the 1 is a far more suitable car for a BTCC racer. Compact is the way to success as we've seen with the 1 and the Civic. |

I think Tim Harvey said during qualifying that they had four Swindon engines total - one each and a spare, which is now in Sutton's car.

What a session. Well done both Cook and Smiley on the front row, the championship has never seemed more happen. It's gonna be hard to pick the champion, but it'll probably be the one who's consistently up there, keeping out of trouble

The Subaru troubles are a bit odd. Looking at the speed traps, they are well down. When the cars first came into the BTCC, they were lacking power, but I thought they had improved the engine a lot. Seems that the Swindon switch isn't working for them just yet.

One manufacturer car in the whole of the top 10 at the moment. It's so great to see independents doing this well.

Another great race - 12 different drivers on the podium / 12. Excellent result for Smith and a good job by Smiley to hang on in there.
Josh is a deserving winner and so too Cammish in P2. Gutted for Motorbase. Lucky that Chilton & Turkington didn't collect anyone at the Old Hairpin. Last edited by luckn002; 29 Apr 2018 at 11:15. |

James Cole, most improved driver by far.
Shame for Tordoff. Well done Cook, great drive. The new Subaru engine is visibly slower on the straight. Every other car seems equal, but Swindon have some work to do. |

Two wins for Power Maxed already this year. That Astra is a decent little car, wouldn't be surprised if both Cook and Proctor take more victories this year.
Proper made up for Cook, that's redemption for his terrible 2017. Take note F1, Lewis Hamilton failing to win a race this season so far is not a reason to spin a redemption story. |
