I said earlier you would think that a car that mostly is a back runner isn't really going to give them the coverage they want. I hope the Audis can be moved on to perform better but they have been around a while now and no great results really. The 6 has had its ups and downs but seems to be a much better car than the Audis. But again all of this bears no resemblence of the road going cars as there is very little of the road car other than the basic body shell. |

What I am getting at is for TPC, the make/model of race car has massive relevance to the road cars. |

Shsun's s smart businessman, he's never over-committed himself with his BTCC projects and steadily built them up. It's now paying off and should do more so in 2019.

I would not go anywhere near the 6, 3 or GS. The new ZS, in truth, is a massive improvement however the engines and transmissions are a decade + behind what VW, Ford or Kia Hyundai offer for example. The MGs are also not something I'd want to be an occupant of in a crash - yes, they are better than a decade old motor but not up to current European/Korean/Japanese standards. Not yet anyway, give them 5 years or so. Saving graces are a long warranty and low list price. In truth though, I'd recommend a used Nissan Juke or Renault Captur over a brand new ZS all day long. And buy a warranty for peace of mind. |

your question related to wanting to know the rationale behind the comment
"They don't specialise in old outdated poorly built Chinese cars" " "They" in this context is TPC. "Poorly built Chinese cars" in this context is MG The 6 has next to no spare parts available (ive seen a car written off because they couldn't source a boot lid), the 3 is toxic with timing chain and clutch issues, and the dealership are not famed for handling warranty claims. |

It's all about the marketing. The vast majority of the people they will bring along won't be that bothered about where the cars finish. The excitement of being part of the race team for a day or two is more than enough. For the ads they will no doubt run showing the race cars at the dealership etc the finishing position again is not that relevant. For that exercise the Audi is a great fit. |

Tim Harvey mentioned some time ago that the A3 audis have good aero, not is thats true. To me they are the best long term bet, and given the shared sub frames etc with some time and focus can be where the MG6 is now. If they get beat by the MG in 2019 then its different story....

Comments surrounding the name Plato on the Ford raised (incorrect) assumptions from some that it could have been Jason. When it was suggested that he wouldn't leave Subaru, a team owner from elsewhere on the grid said that he his departure from Subaru is already a 'done deal'. |

I always thought the S3 had untapped potential. When it debuted in 2014, I thought it looked really well prepared, just look at the grille, it wasn't just blacked out like now, or a sticker like other teams. The car was working its way up the order last year and I think without AMD taking on the MG and with AWE it could have won the odd reverse race this year. Its almost the ideal car (unless BMW bring out a 2 series grand coupe or BMR switch to a WRX) and if developed well it should be right up there, surprises me Cicely didn't go for the CLA. Also look at the RS3 (really an S3) in TCR, all the plusses of the Golf and Cupra with non of the drawbacks, hence the crappy BoP it gets.

Doesn't the Plato/Motorbase stuff all seem a bit, well, odd?
If it happened, it would be a big news story for the championship. Teasing as they are would just lose the element of surprise and intrigue if confirmed and announced. Equally, if it is LewisPlato, which seems more likely, how would he feel sponging off the Plato brand? Surely he would rather make his own way? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |
