Do you have a roll over valve in the fuel system? If so check it's installed the right way. If it is then try running without it. Have had the same fault due to the above.

Today we are going to Mount Cook then to look at Cromwell race track . Will try and hire a car to do a few laps . If I show them my Monaco crash I’m sure that will convince the owner to let me have a go . One thing on Colin Gemini is the spark is very poor. Just thinking there is something shorting in starter . WDYT .

Could you disconnect the starter and push start as a quick test? Remove completely maybe? If it is the only thing that has seen any attention between running OK and not running OK any potential problems with the change need to be eliminated. Just plug your OBD2 scanner in to see what error codes come up .... Potential problems might not be directly related to the starter but to the fitting work and components around it. I know you know that but in my years of experience and observing specialisms across many types of product and process - it's all too easy to overlook some very simple step and focus on those that require greater expertise. Sometimes one just needs a completely random nudge to approach the problem from a different perspective. |

Please dont ask me about ballasted coils, Mike, the subject is still……… warm! Not the coil itself of course, but the Ford fancy wiring. Is there a date to release Colin's troubles? Can't wait, too much suspense!

Off topic, so apologies to the thread- I dismantled the loom on my RS1600 road car when restoring (and the Gp1 RS2000) and replaced the ballast wire with normal. When BL Mini first used the system (80s) both wires were present, so if you knew, you could just swap to non-ballasted.... |

As already mentioned, this weekend was totally frustrating with the car running fine in the paddock then misfiring badly as soon as each race started. Iain & I feverishly replaced everything, begging and borrowing parts until the whole ignition system and most of the fuel system had been replaced with no effect. We conceded defeat after half a lap of the last race and agreed to start afresh at Teretonga. So, not much time to take any pics as we were fully employed scratching heads! However this shot shows how a once orderly pit garage descends into organised chaos during the course of a weekend Wish I'd taken a 'before', pic!
