Lauda For President
In the french magazine "auto-hebdo" of today, we learn that Niki Lauda has denied that he could be candidate for the FIA presidency (sorry if it's not the correct word).
After the death of John Goosens and the fact that Mosley has said that he won't be candidate for the fourth time, it seems that the election is begin. |

I'd suggest Sir Jackie Stewart but I suspect he would find it too onerous at his age. (Not intending to be rude to Sir JS in any way)

The problem is that safety obsessed weasels are managing to sell motor racing to government on the grounds that it helps road safety. If they didnt then safety obsessed governments will probably ban motorsport

Hey, even the Swiss are thinking of overturning their ban, I don't think there's much risk of that!
Besides, it's not like the same advances in safety _technology_ can't continue. Soft walls are a wonderful breakthrough! But Tilke-rings and gravel traps have no application to road safety. |

No but stupid govt officials think it does because people like Mosley are very good talkers. That why he is in the position he is in.

He'd have to take a pay cut! The FIA aren't going to pay that much (compared to how much Jaguar paid him and are now paying him not to work!)

We just need someone who is sane, and in touch with what the public and drivers want.
ie decent tracks, decent regs (slick tyres, wider cars, less downforce) etc. |

How about Carlos Reutemann for president?
He is involved in politics since 1991. Uh, better forget it... Possibly he will still undecided and will constantly say "not" for the purpose... |

Ron Dennis? EWWWW!!!
"Formula 1 should be a technical exercise, not a show for the fans." Makes my skin crawl!!! Mackmot, I sincerely doubt there aren't dozens of people out there who'd make wonderful candidates, who talk just as good a game as Mosely, who aren't weasels. |

When does Moselys term run out? Please let it be as soon as possible, I'm sick of him, despite his attempts this year to spice things up a bit.
I say this - Alan Jones for FIA President !!! In all seriousness though, I hope it someone who really likes good racing, and isnt safety obsessed. I do not believe safety should come at the detriment to racing. Sure, I don't want to see people getting killed, but give the drivers the best facilities possible, put in big gravel traps, soft walls, etc - but don't give us diluted race tracks. |

All good choices, but very unlikely.
Wait for Mosley choosing who's going to substitute him... a burocrat. |
