Excellent race I thought.
Slightly concerned re the pair of lifters. After the introduction of roof flaps it's odd that we have a couple of flyers in one race....does this suggest a problem with set-up at Daytona due to the bumps or what? |

Invader, even with roof flaps it is not uncommon to still see cars fly up in the air. The roof flaps were mandated to catch the cars and prevent them from flying up into the stands. It was a great race and I am glad to see Matt Kenseth get the win. He is a future superstar just waiting to happen.
BTW, did you get to see the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series race yesterday? I don't think I have ever seen that brutal of crash. But it still won't stop me from walking down close to the fence there in the future. At the 1998 Pepsi 400 at Daytona they had a lack of security or something and we got to stand right up to the fence during the race periodically (until the security guy came back our way on his moped). I will think twice about standing right up to the fence though. |

Did you see that one security guy get the hair burned off the back of his head. I bet he pees on himself every time he sees the rerun.

I'm sorry, I really tried to watch this race - I never even fell asleep. But I /had/ to turn off when the guys on the TV were ****ing themselves with excitement over one of the shunts.
Is this the general attitude of people who watch this class, or is it just these idiotic commentators ? I gave up being excited about crashes when I was about 8. These guys were loving it. ********s. |

It was the guys in the Sky studio - the yank blokeys were OK... talking about being 'treated' to a shunt and things like that!

I do agree with Fatbloke, we had an ex-motorcycle racer by the name of Keith Huewen who seems to delight in "a good shunt"...arse.
Yes, it was a miracle that Bodine survived with the minimal injuries he did...Redneck's buddy behind the fence will struggle to sleep for a few days...! |

Yeah, Joe Fan, someone behind me in the grandstands Friday said, "I hope now those people will respect the signs on the wall saying not to stand near the fence."
The Busch race was one of the best races all week, probably third behind the trucks and IROC. I was sitting right where the two cars went airborne. That is almost too much to watch. NASCAR really needs to come up with a way to keep them on the ground. I was so proud of Kevin Harvick. He's a Busch rookie this year, just out of trucks, and was in only his second Busch race. (I must say here that my uncle is team manager for both the #2 of Harvick and the #21 of Mike Dillon.) He didn't make any rookie mistakes, and stayed consistently in the top 5, and even had a shot to win the race. I though Ron Hornaday was going to dominate the race, but he was caught up in an accident. Kenseth did a great job and really deserved the win, although I'm not a big fan of his. What a race. |

Jared, Kevin Harvick was the reason why I watched so many NCTS races on TV last year. I knew he was a young top talent to keep an eye on in that series. Brad Daugherty's #98 truck is a magnet for young talent as Kenny Irwin drove that truck before entering Winston Cup. I seen Kevin race at I-70 in Odessa, Missouri and I was impressed with him even though he appeared not to have a great handling truck.
