I like it too! And I think you should keep veedol the way you made it, it would be seriously fast! Actually the whole run from Dunlop to Coca-Cola would be a monster.

Nah, I like the Nurburgring as it is now. It's quite fun to drive on games. I don't think you've really improved it much. Some ballsy corners, yes, but it's still going to be virtually impossible to overtake bar into turn 1 as before, which is its only real problem

I like the basic design but think you should have thought it through a bit more. The turn that opens onto the now straight back stretch towards the chicane might have run-off overlapping the Nordschleife. We wouldn't want that would we? The rest would be perfect had you not used that horrible Wikipedia map based on an aerial from 2002 which, as expected, doesn't give a good representation of the first corner, Mercedes Arena and the chicane. Of course that is no problem. I just agree with Jab.
Anyway keep it up Dye. |

jab,
I agree that Nurburgring is fun to drive in games - except the "Mercedes arena" part. I would definitely get rid of that and replace it with a much simpler section... bio |

To be honest, all I wanted to do was simplify it, and I admit I do kinda like the Wikipedia style, but I only use it when I'm in a hurry, as like Quintin pointed out its pretty inaccurate, which I can see now I look at the original. Anyway I only use the style in a hurry like I say, which I was when I did this - I did it in literally 15 minutes!. (Hence why bits that could stick out into the Nordschleife are there!)
The main aim was to just smooth the whole thing out, as I absolutely detest the first few corners of the original, yet I couldn't think of a way of changing it without keeping the pitlane where it is now, and not have it go onto the racing line, which it would if I made T1 a left-hander, which was my original intention) Ah Selby, I'll pop it on now through attachments. That's a really nice high speed version, but still with overtaking opportunities. Good design!

Every time I attempt a nurburgring edit I feel obliged to reclaim a little bit more of the nordschleife (or sometimes even the all-but-forgotten sudschleife) for the modern circuit:

If you're going to mess with Donington park lets have some fun with it! Several configurations, a 1.2 mile straight into the old melbourne hairpin, new 'melbourne circuit' that can be run simultaneously with the virtually untouched national track, combined grand prix circuit length around 3.6 miles.

Another few modifications, attempt #2 with Nurburgring.
Gonna do the Hockenheimring next! |

That would be helluva fast back straight there, for sure! Maybe the kink at the end of it would be better left out - it would leave it an even better overtaking spot.

I'll re-upload my Hockenheim idea as I didn't really receive any feedback for it. It seems apt here

Ooh, nice editing, keeps with the style, I like that.
The actual track design I really like too, it would still be fast, buit perhaps not as dangerous, and perhaps a little shorter. I hated it when Hockenheim was mutilated - it is nothing as it is now. A proposal like yours Selby is both realistic and fits in with much of the criteria. Ah well, we can all dream! |

Ok, a proposal instead for Catalunya, as that caught my fancy instead:
I've smoothed out the track around turn 6, to end in a sharp-ish hairpin Tilke style that may or may not encourage overtaking. I've also got rid of that detestable chicane near the end of the lap, and replaced it with a more classic Catalunya-esque curve that sweeps around onto the main straight, increasing speeds even more! In some ways this curve is more Catlunya-esque than Catalunya itself, but anyway I have however kept Turn 9 as it is, because of potential overtaking opportunities from the long sweeping left-hander of Turn 8. |

Thanks for the comments, mate. That was the idea, to try and retain its original style and concept, but just shorten it. I think it would have been a fair comprimise, but that's just me!
That Catalunya is really nice. Campsa becomes a massive overtaking opportunity, and even if you don't get them there, get a nice run in to the Tilke hairpin (might as well be called that!) and you might have a second shot. The final corner as well, seems like another decent comprimise. Another thing I like is the fact it makes for an interesting track shape. I know that sounds odd, but I like tracks to look unique and different from the next. You should be able to identify a track pretty quick just by looking at the shape, and this is quite unique. Good job! Selby |

Not possible, but just watching the GP now, all the slow boring chicanes can and need to be changed into fast sweepers.
