Red,
What we are trying to say is that in 'spirit' France, Germany and Italy DO have two GP's each per year, so if any countries are to lose a GP to make way for the new venues, it would make sence for it to be one or more of those countries. If that were the case the spectators from Imola could go to Monza, Nurburgring to Hockenheim and so on. |

I know Stephen. But, as I said, Monaco is not France. Can't imagine a Formula 1 without Monaco GP, the oldest venue. Also I can't imagine a Formula 1 without the French GP! Heck, they invented the term of "Grand Prix". Also I cannot imagine the French GP held at Monte Carlo...
But you know what I can imagine? An EU GP, held wherever, say at the new Hockenheim... a Monaco GP, a Hungarian GP, then Russian, Turkey, China etc etc... That would be a nightmare... Last edited by Red; 30 Jul 2002 at 07:46. |

I think like a lot of the rest of you that Hockenheim has been destroyed and replaced by an odd assortment of slow to middling curves that have little relationship to one another. The long straight sections of the old circuit were the stuff of legends, motors blowing and reliability as well as speed being paramount.
In the bike races it was called Hondaheim. They had the most powerful and reliable motors. I miss it's passing. If they stuff Spa why not just completely wipe the slate clean of tradition, it obviously counts for very little in the minds of the powerbrokers. |
