Race day press conference by GTA (Masaaki Bandoh) <Part.1>
http://www.fmotor.jp/2018-sgt-rd2-gta-comments About BoP Although the speed of NSX was conspicuous in the 1st round race, we think that equal condition is kept at the present, so we don't consider changing BoP according to the race result so far. Since the GT500 BoP has been decided based on consultations of each 3 manufacturers, so if we change BoP, that procedure is necessary. In addition to the difference between GT3 vehicle and JAF-GT vehicle, GT300 class has a difference in speed because there is a creative ingenuity of the each team. We ask the performance adjustment committee to decide after based on considering the race result, power weight ratio, etc. About Suzuka 10h race Since we are considering Suzuka 10h race as the unified Asian race in the GT300 field, we are working with SRO to support machine participation of GT300 team. However, as the tire becomes one-make of Pirelli tires, how to clear the relationship with each team and sponsor is a subject for the each GT300 team. About future of Super GT (On fostering and securing young engineers) Although the attraction of the race itself is going well also this time, we feel that in order to continue this race in the future, we must support each team by GTA so that each team can be maintained as a company. Especially training of young engineers is a big problem. In that respect, Kenji Yamada's passed away (Team LeMans' engineer) is a big loss. To make it easier for young people to enter, it is important to improve the working conditions of the each team. For the development of the motor sports business field, we would like to build such an environment. |

Race day press conference by GTA <Part.2>
https://supergt.net/news/single/18021 About starting procedure in 1st round -A GT300 machine spun during the parade lap. So Safety car stops all vehicles at the straight line once and re-started the formation lap again. -At the start of the race, the green lamp went on and all the cars were accelerating, and a GT500 car (#19?) adjusted the accelerator. So two cars overtook #19 to avoid crash. |

Race day press conference by GTA <Part.3>
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1120214.html About midship BoP Please understand that mid-ship performance adjustment is not by vehicles, but by technology. We measured the composion of the vehicle, torsional rigidity, etc, and decided from a technical point of view with agreement of three manufacturers. So it will not vary with the individual result of the race. |

Takeshi Tsuchiya explains why Team Tsuchiya (#25) always take no-tire-change strategy on his Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/story.php?s...00003953086541 That's because MC car is difficult to overtake on the racing course. Actually, the number of times Tsuchiya has overtaken over two years is zero car, the number of times he has been overtaken is more than 50 cars. It is because the engine power is less than 100 horsepower than FIA-GT3 cars, and even if the car weight is 150 kg light, that does not benefit much in racing traffic. In short, MC car is quick in single running, but it is easy to be overtaken, and it is difficult to overtake. Therefore, in order to win with MC car, you have to either run alone from the pole position or shorten the pit-stop time. They have developed tires in cooperation with Yokohama since 2015 to make no-tire-change strategy successful. And that tire was completed in the early part of 2016 season. However, Tsuchiya thinks that it might force their racers to overtax their tolerance. He thinks whether it is good to restrain overtaking for young drivers Tsuboi and Matsui. Considering the financial side of FIA-GT3 car in the 3 year cycle, it is necessary to double the MC car's budget. Therefore, Tsuchiya of privateer can not afford it. In order to win with MC car, it is only necessary for two quick drivers. However, in order to be a champion with MC cars, two drivers who can drive quickly and can control themselves are needed. In other words, of course #25 MC car is quick, but Tsuchiya's drivers are quick and amazing. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 7 May 2018 at 04:20. |

But the series needs more exposure not just from F1 drivers and fans, but from other motorsports too.

Impul really seem to be struggling for pace this year, is it because the GT-R is designed around Michelin's ? and does Hoshino's association with Bridgestone prevent a tyre change?

I prefer to think that the combination from the team, manufacturers, tyres etc is the secret of the success on the race especially for #23. |

Autosport web reports Shinichi Takagi (#55)'s secret technique in Qualifying lap of Fuji round.
http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/367554/2 Takagi ran the qualifying lap by switching the ABS mode (Wet/Dry) for each corner according to the different road surface mu. Very clever veteran's technique! |

Car Watch SGT tire manufacturers interview
Michelin (Hiroaki Odajima) https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1121630.html *Michelin continues to participate in Super GT because there is a competition field. Bridgestone (Koji Terada) https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1121675.html *We have not yet solved why pickup phenomenon occurs only in NSX-GT. Yokohama (Shuichi Fujishiro) https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1121738.html *In fluid simulation, side wall fins have the effect of reducing air resistance, lift reduction effect, and as a result we found that there is an effect of increasing downforce, so we had introduced it in GT500. Dunlop (Tanigawa/Imakita) https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1121773.html *The cause of the Suzuka 1000km race is that our tires matched the road conditions in the latter half of the race and Kosuke Matsuura marked fourth possition in Q2 session. |
