SuperGT/DTM in America is what I'm looking forward to most so far. DP to LMP2 level remains a mystery that could be great, or not.

So, DTM North America with F1 at New Jersey in 2014?
Okay, I'm kidding, but that was too good to resist. (Honestly though, if DTM and SuperGT become more or less identical, I may stop paying particular attention to either one of them. This will be heightened further if they keep adding other cars that I can see in other series elsewhere.) Last edited by Purist; 16 Mar 2013 at 02:54. |

I'm more concerned with having the exact same six cars in both GT500 and DTM. Also, GT3s have been working their way more and more into GT300, which reduces how much that class stands out as well.

As GT300 nor DTM are in the USCR, why don't you all take them to the appropriate threads.

The "tie-up" would seem to be simply that GTE will be preserved (otherwise the manufacturers would have flipped out) and likely Used-Car is paying for the use of the "Le Mans" name---mostly marketing, in other words.
From what was said at There Veal, it seems P2 will be slowed, which is pretty much what Scot and Scott said at Winter Test----DP-like restrictions on modifications, prescribed power limits and power and torque curves, etc. I don't have the exact wording but Scott A said something like they'd try to keep P2s from being so different from FIA/ACO LMP2 that teams could easily change back for Le Mans. |

Very interesting fact from Scott Atherton on the Sebring broadcast. Not sure if it's been mentioned before but when they pooled the ALMS and GA online mailing lists together there was only a 10% cross-over of fans.

The DP Continental tires have increased the PC speeds by a second or two, so that throws a bit of difficulty into the dp P2 balance. PC's can't be slowed down or they will be a bigger pain to the GTE class, this makes speeding up DP's even more necessary. P2 tires may be faster than the DP Continentals but that isn't going to be the only fix. I don't have the answer but I hope the new management will be using lots of track tests to figure this balance out. Road America will be very interesting this year.....

Simmi, that tidbit is VERY interesting. It's not entirely surprising, but still, it is an important observation.

That is scary. GA always said they were looking for a different type of fan.
