It's very hot today and the queue to get in with transporters,Motorhomes is crazy.
It's getting a very big event perhaps to big. |

All no doubt handled with typical precision and efficiency! By the time the racing starts, John, all the hard work will be over.
Another event that could be a victim of its own success, maybe? |

There's some very poor video coverage - mainly a French commentator who describes nearly every car as being 'incroyable' or 'exceptionelle'.
The only camera coverage is from the startline through the Dunlop curve and then through to Tetre Rouge. The flag start of the pre war cars was given by a guy dressed in a polo shirt and jeans - perhaps he 'won' the honour in a raffle(?) but not much in the way of a 'spectacle'. I wish I was there - nobody can 'unorganise' things like the French - love them as I do! I'll watch some more in case the coverage improves! Gareth Burnett putting in fastest laps in Plateau 1 and then a recovery after a stop to take 2nd place - I'm sure John Ruston will be pleased http://www.lemansclassic.com//en/eve...cle/Live-Video Last edited by johngee; 5 Jul 2014 at 16:08. |

I had to cancel plans to go to LMC this year so decided to get a bit of French flavour at the TDF in North Yorkshire instead. Amazing experience and crowds. Almost glad I had to miss the LMC. Almost!

'The Reeth Police dismisses us', as they used to ask you to say when suspected of excess alcohol.....
Been trying to get some live timing, but to no avail. Anyone got it to work? SC at moment- looks like Plateau 7 and a Lola has distributed its engine internals somewhere.... |

Think it may have been Seb, he was in attendance according to blurb on the website.
Congratulations to several tenthers on good results in their respective plateaus, and especially to Michael Birch and Gareth Burnett for winning Plateau 1 in the Talbot! It seems the team prize went the way of 'their' team also. Well done John! Lots of good looking cars, my immediate favourite being the Fiat 8V Zagato in Plateau 4. In same plateau there was an AC I can't remember seeing before, a 1958 long nosed Ace Bristol with 250GTO style fastback. Interesting! And you've got to admire anyone doing the 24hr in period in a Dodge Charger, Ford Gran Torino or Chevvy Monza! |

Interesting weekend!
We won a few pots but fate conspired to make sure we didn't with others. Highlight was GB's drive in Race 1 Grid 1 where he started race and then had to park under Dunlop bridge to fix throttle cable whilst others trotted off down the road. Got back in last place ,and drove wheels off the old bus to finish second and keep the pre Vietnam war Talbot Largo within his sights,Got him in Races 2 and 3 The 356 set a time of 5 43 in practise which along with Will Stephens efforts in G3 were by far fastest 356 laps of weekend. Both of these cars then had lousy luck. Our car being stopped by an appallingly driven Le Mans Rep that changed line oblivious to others and in even worse shape the Stephens GT Speedster that got caught in a sandwich not of its own making and was collected by a spinning Alfa losing its complete front end but thankfully Bill Stephens is OK with a few bangs and major GBH of his wallet. Michael Birch was a star in the Elite by getting quicker all weekend and finishing second in Index.Even had coaching from the driver combination in number 1 Elite David Clark with Roger Wills. The Elva in G3 is what could have been! Sent into Race 3 in second overall but a wire dropped off distributor at Mulsanne on warm up lap and GB got out and fixed it but this time the French marshalls prevented him rejoining grid, dicks! Team prize is always luck .You need two decent results and four other finishers. Highlight of that team is after all these years Chris Lunn has won a prize racing! |

Just recovering from another great LMC weekend. Whilst unable to emulate the heights of Team Ruston, in Plateau 1 my pretty standard Bentley 4 1/2 long wing tourer was the first bentley home in 14th place, helped a little by the wet track reducing the horsepower advantage of others........
In the DB2/4 in Plateau 2 we were also first aston home in 9th overall. In the index rudolf's Kieft pipped us as we dropped to 11th. We were helped again by torrential rain in the third race which sent two of the open astons into the pits...... As John says the team prizes are a bit of a lottery, but it is always nice to do well and our team was 2nd overall in the index competition Nigel B |
