Indycar and TMS gave the race every opportunity to run and I think that should be commended.
I was following on Twitter and there seemed to be plenty of updates coming from Indycar and TMS. I'd like to see the event re run or at the very least back to lap 41 |

I saw how wet it was and pretty much knew it would be hours or Monday before it was run. Didn't think about moving completely.
As for the future running of this event, I can see a reset to 41 or a complete do-over; wipe the slate clean. However, starting exactly where they left off is fine by me, too. One thing I'll go out on the limb on, it's gonna be much warmer in Fort Worth come August. |

IndyCar couldn't have done any better to run the race, except putting a roof around the track, or two chicanes.
That crash was nasty. I doubt that the halo would have helped much. And some people want airboxes removed... I think sooner or later formula cars will resemble sports prototypes. |

I echo the frustration above about lack of communication. I watched a bit of it and the greatest amount of information I got was from Josef Newgarden wandering around pit lane with a video camera. At one point Ed Carpenter went for a lap in the pace car, came back and reported the track was soaked. All during this, no information from IndyCar at all that I could see.
I hope Newgarden recovers quickly. We need him as a pit lane reporter as well as a driver, clearly. |

They should've published a specific time people can chew on. Make it clear that it's a provisional target for a restart. If you then you have to extend that time, no problem. But having a specific time to aim for keeps everyone at bay.

Really the only decision once they decided it was a continuation and not a restart.

Well, they could have decided to cancel the race and start a new one.

I don't personally mind. But it is the optimum arrangement. The original weekend wasn't a write off as it will define how the cars start on the new weekend. This keeps as many people as happy as they can be given the circumstances.
It's great that they have a spread out schedule and so they don't have to hold races on Monday or cancel the whole thing which would be the alternatives here. Now they can have an extra race day with the prospect of a reasonable attendance. |

I thought I would pull this one back up, with Part 2 of the 600k coming up this weekend.

It starts where we left off? Running order and retirees as is (was)?

Does anyone have a start list? I can't find anything on the IndyCar site. Surely there must be a running order somewhere but I'll be darned if I can find it.
EDIT: Duh. Here it is (link in this article). http://www.indycar.com/News/2016/08/...ume-race-setup Last edited by rwintle; 27 Aug 2016 at 16:55. Reason: stoopidity |

Restarting where they left off is arguably the most fair solution, but for the fans at the track and my selfish desire to see newgaarden and the others get a redo and see a full race tonight, I wish they'd restart from the beginning.

A reasonable crowd, considering the race was postponed for over 2 months.

This is reminiscent of the pack racing that plagued the IRL for years.

That was too close for comfort. Rahal and Aleshin nearly collecting each other in Pit Road.

Dixon touched Carpenter and spun towards the infield then back up the track and into the wall. 1st FCY.

Ed Carpenter into the wall. Not too sure what caused it, looked like the rear end got a bit loose and touched Castroneves.

And another yellow as Aleshin's rear end steps out and Hawsworth had no where to go. Hawsworth had to be helped away from the car.

What a finish. You've got to feel for the Mayor, having lead for so long but Rahal just bided his time, running 3rd for much of the race. Maybe if Hinchcliffe had pitted for fresh tyres? Good to see TK mixing it in those last few laps. That was an excellent race.
