There's a couple here: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpa...s_art_id=35444
They haven't got the new revised engine cover on their car yet though. |

But I must admit, that I agree with the posters who thinks that we should wait until we see what the current drivers can do with the 600 BHP F430 GT engine. Without being evil; it is not the greatest drivers in the world competing in A1GP. Which I think is fair enough, it is the way in for new nations into the world of motorsports. About the Super League series?? Dont worry, it will never take off. It didnt last time, and it will not this time either.. But.. I do hope that the sound of that V8 sounds better live than on the video.. That deep bark from a singleseater is not very potent, I feel.. Last edited by Aslak Vind; 21 Jul 2008 at 17:34. |

Something went terribly wrong with my my earlier posting attempt but here it is again,
Configuration: 90 degree V8 Displacement: 4500cc Width: 666.5 mm (max L&R cam covers width) Height: 446(from bottom plane to max cam covers height) Length: 569 mm (from front pulley bolt to rear plane engine block flange) Weight: 160kg Cylinder block: Die cast aluminium alloy Cylinder head: Sand cast aluminium alloy Valve train: Four overhead camshafts Four valves per cylinder Engine management: Bosch MED 9.6 Injection: Gasoline direct injection Spark plugs: NGK Fuel: Shell E10 102 RON Max torque: 406 lbs ft 550 Nm Max power: 600 bhp 448 Kw New engine specs taken from A1GP.com's release today. 4.5L and making 600hp WITH Powerboost ON according to the rest of the article. Seems they are really focusing on reliability as specific output doesn't look as good as the old Zytek. The Zytek made more torque per Liter and without the direct injection feature specced in this new engine. Fuel is about the same in fact I think the Zytek ran on RON 100. A1GP release also states that this engine would be basis of a new family of V8 in Ferrari road cars so commercially its a plus point for Ferrari to keep the engine fairly close to production spec. The new engine is also 40kg heavier than the old. I guess trying to adapt a road engine to race spec will never be as easy as using an engine designed for racing right from the beginning like the Zytek units. However I'm sure there would be more power to be gained from this new engine once they're happy with reliability, provided A1GP willing to pay for development. |

I thought there was supposed to be a public unveiling of the new Italy livery. It just seems to be an all white car with Mugello race promo stickers...I guess we'll have to wait longer to see the second team livery (after RSA).
P.S. I like it a bit better with the fin on the engine cover as it reminds me a bit of the Lola, i.e. an A1GP car instead of just another single seater. Last edited by Kiwi3; 23 Jul 2008 at 00:59. |

The engine comes from the same new familiy, as the engine from the newly revealed Ferrari California. It will also be the basis for the next F430, and the next F70 with turbocharging - all with direct fuel injection as specified by Ferrari.

Ther reason for moving up in engine cap, was to create space in the range for the new Maerati and Alfa V8 cars. Sorry for off-thread. |

For some reason, GP2 drivers approach each race asif it's the decisive one. Look at, say Ammermüller as to what the results can be when that happens |

Alex yoong is not a good example, he hasn't been consistently competitive in A1GP either, although he is better than his Minardi form suggested. Jani and Carroll...and I think if Alberqueque, Summerton, Kerr, Duval were in GP2 they'd be very competitive.
Actually often the ex-F1 drivers are not quick compared with the guys who have come up from F3 or those who have not had the opportunity, like Jonny Reid. There are some drivers with good reputations who come into A1GP thinking it will be easy and then realise they've underestimated it. Alvaro Parente is often thereabouts is GP2 this season but he was only ever thereabouts in A1GP as well. One of the reasons why I love GP2 as well is that I know I am watching a high standard but you also see some comedy (Pastor Maldonado ). I would therefore rate the two series as similar in standard. |

Drivers like Carroll have had their chances in GP2 and for whatever reason have failed to hit the top, yes Carroll has won a couple of races but he hasnt ever been in the same League as rookies Hamilton, Premat, Pantano or Piquet. As for Duval, has he really done enough to justify a place in GP2? Sure he did ok in Nippon but he didnt exactly shine in the F3 euroseries. IMO of course. |
