So when is PHR going to enjoy some of this guaranteed "success"? |

It's a red herring but I'll bite. PHR has not got the base to build with that DJR presented, it doesn't have the cachet to attract a leading sponsor to (even if Jim Beam were not paying the actual bills), PHR has not got a star driver, nor a very strong (or current) technical lead, as DJR had in 2010.

DJR beat Triple Eight with a Triple Eight car.
Why isn't PHR doing the same? |

Many factors, some small, some large. Mr Forklifts wasn't the primary reason for the championship win by DJR, even if he thought he was. Gotta be a reason the band has never managed to get themselves back together in the years since they all unceremoniously jumped overboard as the decks burned around them |

As above. The other argument I would make is that that the 888 FG was the best customer car ever. But then again if PHR had one it would be 5 years old with front suspension older than that, being driven by a driver who seems to be past his prime.

Funny that when around this time last year I suggested a driver change in the #18 might be something that could help the team, I was howled down being told the driver isn't the issue....

Some interesting rumours suggesting that Matt Stone racing will have a different badge on their car in the near future.

Ouch, but I do feel like the pilot can give more than what he is showing recently. Maybe the devil you know.

They've dumped the Super2 FG-X.
Not surprised if they put the VF back into service in the maingame. A little shopping at the house of Eights to bring it up to spec, will get it a bit further up the grid. |

There is apparently a spare ZB in that shed, and another car(s?) in build for 2019. The fella in #1 banged his pretty hard early on, wonder if a new chassis is on the way, freeing up that chassis for a customer.

Mr Whincup likes his new chassis to arrive around September, so it's possible.

Surely not a coincidence...
But surely you don't ask the sponsor to cover what was really a very bad decision in the first place! Ford fans bemoan the lack of Fords on the grid but since 888 swapped, nobody has built one you'd want to race! |

Perhaps there was an expectation of a better quality of equipment delivered than was achieved for either Ford chassis. Happened from the sale of that team’s BA Falcons back in the day too, allegedly... they say history never re-peats (bloody song is in my head now..) but you just never know..

Not many have seen success using an ex-DJR chassis. Only Mr McLean springs to mind at this point.
I'm sure if hindsight was applied, they'd saved a significant amount of money and heartache by upgrading the Super2 winner to ZB specs. At least you know you'll get customer assistance proportionate to what you're spending, from Triple Eight. |

Clearly they are not mucking around if they're going to drop $200k mid-season to change. Still, ouch.

Not really surprising. DJRTP have stated in the past, they have little interest in customer cars. Would be very hard for a brand new team to set up a foriegn car with little data or support.

It is their brand being spoken of as an ex-DJRTP chassis... how much is reputation actually worth?

Given it's one of the oldest COTF chassis in the field, there can't be too much TP in it.

Using another acronym there IS too much TP in it. Maybe the team wiped it away...
