Your version concentrated on an old rivalry between manufacturers and put more focus on the teams. The latter is probably the better choice, and the former was logical at the time and made parity more straightforward with fewer variations. What wasn't anticipated was both those manufacturers would eventually move out of production and create the problem that now exists. What hasn't happened is any evolution of concept, and it probably should have done, but that doesn't mean the reasons that led to the original regulations were wrong. |

Lucky Supercar is doomed to failure then...

An advantage Supercars have is that they produce their own content which has always inflated the cost of the rights for the sake of the press release.
It is not as though Fox need to pay for rights and then produce content. They pay for the Supercar rights which includes the content. |

Don't Foxtel effectively cover the money Supercars Media spends in the rights fees?
One wonders if Foxtel might want to take it in house and do it themselves rather than buy the provided content. They present a lot of local sport from a studio and just cross to the commentary team for the live action , a bit of saving could be made there instead of having everyone at the track More great contribution. Should we all have our heads in the sand and only talk about how much the next deal will be bigger in $$ than the current one? |

Will you still be able to buy bread and milk, to feed yourself and your family, if Supercar has a different media rights deal? Your obsession with my sharing is kinda interesting, but mostly pointless. |

It is an article from May that was cited.
Compared to the A-League and Rugby, Supercars has a big audience and rates strongly. There may be pressure on the next rights deal, as with all sports, but Supercars has less to worry about compared to several other sports. |

Do you know something that we don't know? I see nothing there that assumes that SC won't have a media contract with Foxtel but the assumption would be at a lower number than present. In other words they would want a better ROI and SC will have to come to the party.

You sling criticism at other categories (eg..TCR) but any time there is criticism of Supercars, be it an event or the media deal, you default to the sort of stuff you posted earlier which contributes nothing to the debate. If you can level it at other categories, you should be willing to cop it at ones you back.

Gee, you'd love to be the guy brokering that new TV deal given today's news about a very uncertain Holden involvement after 2021.

To be a bit of a smart arse I would contend there is no uncertainty at all.

Seven and Foxtel are teaming up for the Supercars-run Bathurst 12hr coverage in 2020....
.....could this be a pointer to a 2021 Supercars collaboration? |

Certainly not impossible, although the sticking point might be the grand prix round. I gather they also share their resources to produce the cricket coverage as well as the AFL, so they're getting to be comfortable bedfellows in a way.

Every TV media company are doing whatever it takes to get content, that was the prime reason Liberty bought F1. They in essence didn't care what F1 did, it was all for the media content in years to come.

The decline of Foxtel has been remarkable.
Any word on the take up (numbers wise) of Kayo? |

I only have Foxtel for the motorsport and I refuse to reply on Kayo due to the buffering issues that many encountered at Bathurst this year. Hopefully this will improve over time.

382,000 subscribers to Kayo according to Fox. The catch is, at what cost has it taken to achieve those numbers given that many customers reportedly cancelled their Foxtel subscriptions to take up Kayo.

Does Kayo allow you to watch races when you choose rather than just live?

As well as a back catalogue of content. It's really good...when it works properly.
