Remote control F1 car?
Saving the jokes of todays "driver aids" cars, was there ever a totally driverless F1 car?
I seem to remember something in the early 90's about a totally automated F1 car, with no driver (For some reason Jordan comes into my head when thinking of this), being operated from pit lane, is this true or is my memory playing funny games with me? |

I have heard a story of a Formula One car lapping Silverstone in 92 or 93 (at the height of the technology era) without a driver in it, don't know whether it is fact or fiction though.

i think to be honest..people take the driver aids way out of proportion. If you've ever went karting in wet conditions you'll know what i mean. Karts although hard to compare to F1 cars run on the same principle with drivers not having a clutch or having to change gears....yet...while in the wet you will see that keeping them facing forward while trying to put in a quickest lap is no easy task...you have to have 100% concentration all the time and i can't begin to imagine what it would be like travelling at speeds up to 200mph!!!

On the contrary, karting in the wet is when you have to be most careful when applying the power coming out of slow corners in case u spin the rear wheels.

Think it was either Williams or Benetton that had a virtual car.
