I thought he was a contracted Ford driver , or very close to it ???
remember he drove the CAT ford at surfers at the request of Ford. but hey you gotta go where the drives are available I guess |

If Ritter was Ford Contracted i would guess he would have drive this year. No confirmation on that yet so we'll just have to wait and see. Plenty of rumours around about who is going to drive one particular Commodore though.

After his drive with Team Brock at Bathurst this year he must be close to securing a full time drive, if one is available. With the current series format and the limited franchises drivers such as Ritter will always find it hard to get a full time drive though. Now if we had and endurance race format (2 Drivers) drivers such as him would be one of the first picked as a co-driver, in my opinion.

I dont think Mr Ritter endears himself to anyone when he opens his mouth. He did do it again this time... and this is what will keep him as a part timer...

Is it his fault that he is quicker than the regular drivers?**** 'em if they can't handle the truth.

Isn't Ritter some relation of Garry Rogers?

Ritters problem is his mouth. He has stood on toes at every team he has been at and these teams wont go near him again. It has nothing to do with his speed, but the baggage that comes with it. The teams he hasnt driven for are curious to touch him because of his reputation. If he can learn to be political and shut his trap then someone might take him otherwise it will be just Sandown and Bathurst for him.

I was standing within proximity of the driver on the Saturday afternoon... his audience was a rep of one of the motorsport writers who contributes to AA/MN....
....now it didnt seem to specifically be mentioned in either mag, but maybe out of professional courtesy (and a desire to protect him) more than any other reason The words were as you describe TheMan, specific mention that Ritter was quicker than the regular team drivers... Lucky Kees wasnt around at the time is all I can say... I still dont understand the reason for it.. the driving should do the talking not the hype |

I haven't had much to do with Greg previously, but I spent a lot of time with him at Sandown and Bathurst and found him to be professional, focused and extremely humble. He never once dissed any other driver in my hearing - Team Brock or otherwise - and remained amazingly positive even at times (eg. late Sunday afternoon at Bathurst) when he had every right to be absolutely devastated. GTR, you heard whatever you heard and I'm not calling you a liar but any overheard quote taken out of context can sound bad, especially when you are listening for something to prove what you believe to be true. As I say, i didn't know the bloke beforehand. Maybe he's changed, but everything I saw makes me think he'd be the ideal team driver. He's fast, he worked well with the mechanics and got on well with the rest of the team. If I were running a team I'd want him on my side. |

I overheard many more interesting conversations over the weekend than this one... but this was quite odd to me... and I do know the audience as well which made it even odder.
As for the talent thing, I shant mention his time at 00... |

No, probably best not to mention his time at 00, when he had inferior and under-funded equipment, and let's just say that he doesn't speak glowingly about the management, structure or morale there (the only negative words I heard from him, mind you). Let his lap times at Bathurst with a decent car under him speak for themselves.

He's quick, he seems easy on the car, and he has a fair mechanical knowledge.
Maybe the rumoured entry of Sonic Motorsport into V8s will start with Greg in the Konica series. |
