James Allen
Hopefully this season will mean James Allen speaking more sense and not making attempts to imitate Murray Walker. Martin Brundle needs a medal working with James Allen sometimes.

That Bigbird Goodman girl that hangs around the pits is no better - she is totally unintelligeable.
Bring back Murray, please. |

Nah, he got too gimmicky by the end. Let us have Edwards and Watson. Oh how I'm gonna miss digital .

James Allen is a bleedin' moron. Get Ben Edwards on there. That guy knows how to commentate.

I was told that we would be getting channel 10 commentators for F1 this year, so maybe we won't have to put up with Allen

racer69...if that means we miss out on Martin Brundle, then that is a great shame indeed Although, Neil Crompton would be great in the box - Channel 10 commentators would be alright so long as they don't get that muppet Matthew White in the box.

As a solution, how about Neil Crompton and Martin Brundle together

Oh god, sounds like they have really flushed us down the toilet now then - what if its Eddie McGuire and Rolf Harris? Rolf could do digeridoo noises and wobble board when Montoya is catching someone to overtake. Eddie McGuire could buy Jordan and put Nathan Buckley in it and talk about Jordan all afternoon and bring in Buckley after the race and talk about how good he was and exchange loving glances and sweet nothings.

That Aussie bloke Grant Boyden... actually all the V8 Brute commentators would make a good F1 commentary team. If ITV gave a choice to viewers then James Allen would be talking to himself. ;-)

I hate to say it, but at the end of last season, James did grow on me and reduced my hate level on him.
OK, he's no Muzza - but who is? He can't make a boring race interesting - but it is a difficult art to master. At first, he really was , but now he's getting more practice he's improving at a decent rate. Of course, I'd much rather have Ben or, of course, Martin Haven - his gaffes are very nearly at Murray standard! But if we do boot him from the box, stick him back in the Pits. He knows his stuff on that side of things, he knows his strategies, and if only to get rid of Ted Kravitz!!! *screams* |

I really can't stand the way he stands there and screams "Are you ready!?" "Can you feel it!?" at the start - it's not fricking wrestling!

Peter Windsor is the god of pit lane coverage! Watson was just and fair most of the time, yeah he was a bit of a Schu fan-boy but Edwards made up for that! What I liked is that they spoke to you about often quite technical stuff, as someone who understands it. I hate being patronised by the ITV crew. Hill and McCarthy were fantastic in the studio during the race, it was like watching the race down the pub with your mates!

I just hope we had Edwards for CART at Eurosport again...
And I wished I could hear Damon, but we are okay here with Gené, ServiÃ* and probably De la Rosa this year... |

Boy am I gonna miss F1D+
ITV needs to do a complete overhaul IMO. Digital just had the perfect line-up. And what about those long in-depth interviews with team managers on Friday between practice sessions? They were first rate, especially the one with Ron Dennis that they showed in October. ITV will probably give us Beverly Turner interviewing some nobody. |

Yeah, but that was the thing about digital - only the people who were really into F1 anyway were going to be watching it, which meant they're more likely to understand what they're talking about. ITV gets casual viewers as well, and too much technobabble (to pinch a Star Trek term!) would put them off watching again. Quote:

The ideal commentary team for this year
And I am sure at least 80% of members in this forum will agree with me: Michael Schumacher and Martin Brundle
