Ah, so the help the handicapper had between the second and third races seems to have helped with the results then.

Qualified 7th, and in the first race lost 3rd gear after 4 laps but managed to get home 7th after letting Col McAlister slip past with 2 laps to go... Crew rushed back to Sydney, picked up a standard road 'box, installed it this morning then kaboom, bye bye new engine after 1 lap of race two... Back to the drawing board, and (hopefully !) Round Two at Eastern Creek... Congrats to Gavin Wilkinson (Under 2 ltr) and Warren Rush (Overs) on their wins in the trophy races today... Cheers, Paul... |

The BMW of David Towe had a great shot at the round overall, but came into the pits for what seemed like a drive thru |

apparently 60 entries, not many officials, started at 9:30 when everyone was told 10:00,
make your own assumptions |

There were plenty of Officials to run a very successful weekend Matt, if you had of been there, you would have noticed. The drivers had plenty of racing, everyone else had a fun weekend. And thats what it is all about.

Ahhh ABck in beuatiful Melbourne!
First apologies for not getting schedule up earlier - had no internet connect until late Friday and then only for posting results. Saturday was a ******* of a day - 22 transmitters handed out of which 12 were for owner failures - either stuffed transmitters, faulty charging or simply failed units (some not even 12 months old!!!); XP kept coming up with file locking issues (never happened before!), timinggear started having fits all day (looks like the power supply in one of the boxes may be failing...) - and by myself - so was a hectic weekend! But with mtpanorama and GTRMagic coming in on Sunday (finally got to meet GTR...) - was good to mett up with Mt again and finally with GTR... The hndicapping - yes well - it doesn't help when you handicap for a 12 lap race and, as they line up on the grid you hear the call over the radio 'This is a ten lap race...' I miss read it! But I thought' Oh well - will leave it the same for the final as that has gone from 15 to 12 laps - so should all OK' - and then they reduce it to ten laps! Can't win... But Mork'y win in the final race is how the handicapping should work - takes the lead in the last 300 metres of the race.... Maybe I can get it right in May Weather wise - couldn't have asked for a better weekend really. Now if only some drivers would realise that this was STATE level racing - and turn up appropriately - with everything ready INCLUDING charging their bloody timing transmitters! |

RaceTime, Lance Smith (Cheif Scrutineer) wandered over and informed Pete and myself (# 27 and #28 IPRA RX-7's) that one of us had a dodgy Dorian timer - yet on the timesheets it showed both working normally ?? Any thoughts ??
Cheers, Paul... |

Yes - 27's wasn't working properly on Saturday - your times were coming from the light beams we use as backup. What the problem was/is, I'm not sure - whether it just wasn't charged properly, installed properly or simply all the other problems we had overall.
Unfortunately the crews at Eastern Creek and Oran Park don't chase up these 'intermittent' problems - they just give you manual times and leave it at that - so you keep going from one track to another with a problem that never really gets resolved. That isn't how I work - I try to get the problem fixed so I can sit back and read Motorsport News while you are racing Email me if you want further info on the problem racetime@racetime.com.au - have some other news you may be interested in as well. |

Just need to correct something - we have a 'secret lurker' who has corrected me about Eastern Creek (Hi L )
Appears Eastern Creek do chase some of these up - they apparently maintain a carbon book of problems. Only thing I would say here now is - these incidents need to go back to Dorian because, as far as they are concerned, there are NO problems happening at the tracks! |
