Bourdais: IRL is too dangerous
Looking to bolt champ cars next year for F1, "seabass" had some parting shots for the IRL.
"Champ Car) is shy on the ovals, but the IRL is just wrong," Bourdais added. "The whole thing with trying to repeat NASCAR with open-wheel racing is just wrong. It is way too dangerous. I can accept doing five or six races on ovals, but a whole season is too much." http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/champcar/12257/ This is a big loss for the IRL. With his French charm, good looks and stunning personality Bourdais has been a shot in the arm for open wheel racing in North America. The Bourdais shirts and hats are selling like hot cakes throughout the states. He will be missed, but I think we can all agree that the glorious memories he gave us in champ cars shall always stand. His argument dosen't make any sense. If 5 or 6 is ok, I don't see why all ovals isn't ok. The number of ovals you do doesn't make it any safer of less safe. It only takes one session to kill someone.

rush1...
Bourdais, in that article, did not attack you on a personal level. He made no mention of your culture, appearance or personality. I find your opening post to be two things. Sarcastically degrading, and an attempt to open a flame-baited thread. I'm closing this thread. When I read the linked article, I realize that it has very much more to do with Bourdais' F1 aspirations then anything else. And I find it odd that you mentioned Bourdais' quote, but neglected to say anything about the possibility of daMatta coming back to America to race for Newman-and-or-Haas. To me, that makes for bigger news than Seb's comments do. Before anybody starts yelling "Gestapo!" at me, let me say that I would not have locked this thread if the link was presented in a different tone of voice. evo... The probability of your post being >90% correct is very low, +/- 3.06%, 19 times out of 20. |
