Chicagoland Weekend Thread
Today's first session times:
1. Wheldon -- 215.188 2. Kanaan -- 214.875 3. Scheckter-- 213.965 4. Rice -- 213.482 5. Herta -- 213.454 6. Manning -- 213.291 7. Meira -- 213.273 8. AJ Foyt IV -- 213.156 9. Dixon -- 212.211 10. Giaffone -- 212.144 Hornish and Franchitti did not participate in the early session at all....according to "Live Timing & Scoring"...haven't nbeen able to see any kind of report as to why they did not run...but only 20 cars were out in that session... Castroneves was way down the list...like 16th or so... Townsend Bell was the slowest in the 1st session, with Lazier and carpenter near the bottom as well... Tora the Tiger was 11th...maybe he has a new foot... 2nd session is underway with the bottom 11 in the standings on the track.... Sharp was leading that group in the 2nd session with a time of 213.8 |

He's in the top six in the 2nd session, too....
and Sharp is 5th.... Penske's cars are 12th & 13th Rice is on top with a 214.6, Kanaan is 2nd, Franchitti 3rd & Meira 4th Bell is still the slowest, but from Rice to bell, the total speed difference is ony 3 mph!!!! Giaffone thus far is the fastest Chevy in 10th spot (in this session anyway). |

Chicago always provides good racing, and it sounds like it'll be as close and unpredictable as ever.

Qualifying has been run and won and helio has grabbed Pole , fantastic effort great to see Penske back where they belong.
Brilliant effort by AJ qualifying 6th , by far his best effort in qualifying to date in his career. Tomas Scheckter changed an engine before qualifying and will start from the back of the grid but knowing him it wont take him long to charge through. and Congrats to felipe Giaffone who will be starting his 50th Career race tomorrow. should be a cracking race |

Boy, Helio on pole. Who can figure this series out?!
Wow, AJ 6th! Never thought I'd see the day that would happen! Well actually, I did think I'd see the day, just not so soon! Did AJ senior finally hire an engineer or something? And Scott Sharp starting 13th? Never thought I'd see this day happen either! At least not this year! I think thats his best start yet. Can these guys hang tough in the race though? We shall see! |

I fear AJ may go backwards in the race, but credit where it's due - good job so far.
