Sam's prize money for Indy

Sam pocketed a record $1,744,855 USD in prize money after winning the Indy 500.

Not bad eh?

I don't think it all goes to the driver - Roger the other team management usually get a cut, but it's still not bad for a month's work.

Actually, Sam fell just short of the Winner's Purse record...

Sam won $1,744,855

In 2004, Buddy Rice came home with $1,761,740

The total purse was apparently a record for the whole event...

The difference was that Sam Didin't lead as many laps as Rice did (19 vs. 91) and Rice also won the Pit Stop Competition in 2004 and Helio won it this year instead of Sam.

NOTE: The 5 AGR cars brough home a total of $2 million this year.

Last year, their 4-car total purse was over $3 million, due to Wheldon winning the Race.
