Anyone heard about the possibility of GT1 cars running against the DTM cars in a revised 2007 Championship, after the toe in the water GT1 support races this season.
Are Audi reducing the number of factory cars they run? |

Its a Interesting idea in theory, how well it would work in practise however is another matter altogether. With regards to Audi, no I dont think they are scaling down their involvement in the DTM this year although I could be wrong, there are 4 2006 cars lined up for this years DTM, all run by Abt.

I meant 2007, or even 2008.
Mercedes must be looking at the long term. There was talk a few years back, before the RS Spyder program, Mercedes wanted Porsche in the DTM with a car based on the Carrera Cup GT3, so evidently Mercedes are not against the idea of sportscars running alongside DTM machines. |

Like the old Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (see http://www.faszination-tourenwagen.de/index0.htm).
It's maybe to early and not the right topic for speculating about the future of DTM but there are several options. |

In my opinion GT cars should be (very) far from DTM.

If Porsche enters, I guess that's the end of the 4dr saloons and back to coupes racing in the DTM. I really hope some other 4dr saloon manufacturer will enter to save us!

If a Q7 rolled during a race it would probably wipe out half of Germany.

Are there news about Tielemans? I heard the rumour that he could be substitued by Borja Garcia at Brands Hatch round.

Two weeks ago in Dutch media there were stories Tielemans was dumped by Kolles and/or Audi. As his replacement was mentioned Dutchman Phil Bastiaans, but also drivers for single events (like Borja). Tielemans had put a press release on his website that these rumours were all lies. I see that this press release is replaced by a preview for the race at Brands.

Yesterday there was a lawsuit between Tielemans and Roger Peters/Henk van der Meene (remember HENK at the car ). Tielemans says he has a contract for a full season DTM. But according Peters/van der Meene Team Kolles have no longer trust in Tielemans, so they want him no longer in the car. Next Tuesday the court will make their verdict public.

Tielemans has lost the lawsuit against his manager (Mr Peters) and sponsor Mr van der Meene). So they are free to put another driver in the car. Former DTM driver Jeroen Bleekemolen is an important candidate.

I really wonder why would a driver ever wish to race with that car, it is completely uncompetitive.

italiaracing.com says Ross Zwolsman could be the substitute.

Not necessarily, the team bosses know the relative performance of the cars and what lap times the older cars are capable of. We've seen a number of drivers put in good performances in the old Mercedes in particular and then be promoted to the latest cars the next season. The same happens in F1 - a good drive in a poor car can get you noticed.

It's confirmed: Bleekemolen replaces Tielemans at Kolles.
