Sorry Ensign, the discussion was still on Chiron's lengthy time in the saddle, I had [wrongly] assumed your question a page or so ago was answered. Sorry

I think I'm owed two questions...
...the one mentioned above (the guy with the interesting take on safety)... and: which driver's two Grand Prix wins came 18 years apart? |

No for both. The chap who won his GPs 18 years apart only ever won 2, as far as I can see. Wimille sadly died before the helmet rules were changed. (clue)

No idea, need to check, but I'm amazed no-one has got either yet. There's clues in the thread itself.

The driver winning two GP in 18 years is the frenchman Louis Wagner, winner of the 1908 US-GP in Savannah and the 1926 British-GP in Brooklands.
A guess for the one with the helmet: Philippe Etancelin? |

Wow, funformula storms in and is 2 for 2. Absolutely correct. Wagner gets a credit for the British GP (which, in a nod perhaps to the French, was called the RAC Grand Prix) for sharing a Delage with Robert Seneschal.
Philippe Etancelin, whose GP career spanned 4 decades, always used to wear a flat cap turned around on his head. When he was told he had to wear a crash helmet (late on his career) he simply put the one on top of the other. Over to you, ff. |

OK, another helmet question
Who was the last driver in Formula 1 wearing a open face helmet in a GP-race? |

Kinnunen is the correct answer. His only F1-race was the Swedish GP in 1974. Five times he could not qualify the Surtees in that year. Nordic, next question please. |

Next question is....
What is the connection between a 1993 Chamberlain Lotus Esprit Le Mans Team driver, and a sea slug? Ferdinand de Lesseps' grandfather lead the team that built the Suez Canal (Between the Med and the Red Sea) and this helped the migration of some sort of Sea Slug ....I thought I was on a Motorsport Quiz!! |

Well done Stone Man.
The migration of sea slugs is called 'Lessepsian' due to the creation of a canel linking the med and the red sea. |

GP Italy 1950:
Dorino Serafini had to hand his Ferrari to Alberto Ascari. Ascaris car had engine problems and was out of the race. So he drove the last 33 laps in the car of Serafini and took second place. |
