Guten Morgan
Quoted from dailysportscar.com:
The Morgan Aero 8 that was unveiled at the Autosport Show could well make its first race appearance at Le Mans. The ACO have homologated the car, according to this week's Motorsport News, and an entry for the 24 Hours has apparently been submitted. It looks as though the possible GT class, at least, that we posted last week is going to be significantly inaccurate. A potential 500 bhp and a very small frontal area should mean a very quick Aero 8 down those one mile straights - hence its name. |

Brilliant news Osella, lets hope it actually happens. Something to cheer for in the GT class at last.

Could be animated this year in GT - not a Porsche race, I mean... |

Great pun Osella!
It would be fantastic to see the Aero 8 at LM, I think it would get a huge amount of interest. I suspect it would be fast but fragile, but at least it seems there is a lot more variety in GT and GTS. My rookie year in 1999 was virtually all Vipers and Porkers, this year's possible entry list is a lot more diverse. Hell, I want the Aero 8 there just so they produce a diecast of it later. |

Also quoted from dailysportscar:
The ACO's technical regulations are enforced rigidly, and that's the way it should be. But perhaps they have a habit of adjusting them, if they feel a need to. With Morgan looking to Le Mans with the Aero 8, there was apparently an issue over the width of the windscreen in relation to the width of the whole car. The screen should be at least 70% of the width of the car, but with the narrow Aero 8, fitted with wide arches and its unique (these days) running boards, the figure dropped to 58%. But the chance of a Morgan at Le Mans - 40 years after the marque finished in 13th place with a Plus Four - was too good an opportunity to miss. So the rule might now say that the windscreen needs to be 70% of the width of the body. MG, Bentley and perhaps Morgan, at the 2002 edition of the great race? Let's hope so. |

Who will manage the car ?
Wonderful scoop, Osella !
You know that the collaboration between Dams and MG failed for this year... Dams is without car for the moment... do you know if Morgan could deal with Dams to nanage the car (Dams was the team taking care of two of the four Cads in 2000, and the two Cads racing in 2001) ? |

See 'new book' thread for news on DAM's plans, sadly at the moment not including Morgans.

and there's more:.....
We are reliably informed that an Aero 8 is heading for the British GT Championship, and is likely to appear in familiar (to regular GTO fans) colours. The car is hotly tipped to be testing at an oval circuit in the UK next week. |

Le Mans 2003 could see the return of the old mandatory stop for putting the top up!
