JOWT Blog should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Flavio Camponeschi

Flavio Camponeschi, Tony Kart Junior driver, has been stripped of his KF2 World Cup victory and had his CIK-FIA license suspended for six months after failing a drug test at the event.

Seems to me the punishment might be a bit extreme....

seems to me its spot on.

A guy at that level (or any level for that matter) but especially at that level should not be screwing around with any kind of illegal drug.

He may well have stopped a promising career dead in its tracks.

I certainly hope he takes the 6 months to reflect on his silly mistake and realize that it is not what he needs to be doing to both race competitively or enjoy life.

I couldn't agree more, it just seems a bit odd that it took the CIK-FIA 51 days to decide on the appropriate punishment. If they were going to strip Flavio of his World Cup, it seems like they should have taken that action immediately. A positive test for cannabis (THC) will show up within minutes.

As you said, it may destroy his career....hopefully that wasn't the intention of the CIK-FIA. A six month suspension or a DQ from the race (preferably before the race), not both, should be beneficial in my mind. It's unfortunate that he made a bad decision, but hopefully this will be a wake-up call for him and others involved in the sport.
