I remember when at least half of the Porsche field at Combe were DQ for the same reason.. but it got revoked because of lack of proof... we might be talking about the same event.

There is no excuse, and it's a about time the MSA got tough before there's a nasty accident.

No I'm thinking of a different series and almost certainly a different clerk but it does go to show that the problems are the same. The MSA or the organising clubs & timekeepers need to work on a system that is affordable (that's likely to be the crunch!) and allows for clear proof of the incident.
Obviously this doesn't apply to overtaking under yellows which is much easier to show, although I do have sympathy with a clerk who is then presented with two drivers who swear that one waved the other one by!

I know the yellows are precautionery but has no one ever thought about infringing a speed limit whilst going past yellow flags?

I'd just like to say, being on the side of the fence taking photos standing next to marshalls, I think you do a splendid job and reading a dangerous situation and acting on it before anyone else does is a tough job that I don't think I could ever do. Hats off to you

Thanks Lorna, you're right though it does require a certain mindset

I am actually waiting for a driver to hit one of our Rescue Units, we've had so many near misses over the last couple of years. I bet they'll say they didn't see it! Or the waved yellows or white flag! I'm hoping to get a look at some of the footage of both the Clios and the Caterhams and will be interested to see the flagging and the response!

Just an update on Charlie Butler-Henderson (remember the original thread subject? ) - this is from pistonheads.com, posted last Friday:

Quote:
Now recuperating at his Hertfordshire home after a couple of nights under observation in hospital, Charlie Butler Henderson is hoping to make a return to the Cateheram championship in six weeks.

"I broke a vertebra because of the whiplash and they have strapped me into a neck brace for the next few weeks," he said. "I'm in a bit of pain but everything considered I have been very fortunate. The Caterham proved itself to be amazingly strong and I'm sure that saved me from a worse injury."
