Good result for WFR, though unlucky for Wolf. Roll on R2!

Bit of a leftfield one - I notice that there are Ligier JS49s and JS51s running. I had always thought that Ligier naming conventions had odd numbers for single seaters / F1 cars and even numbers for sportscars - am I completely barking up the wrong tree on this one or has this concept fallen by the wayside and a standard around odd numbers been arrived at?

Speed Series in US
I'll say it again, this would be a great series to have in the States. The cars are fantastic, there is diversity in makes, its a great training ground for future pro sportscar ranks, etc, etc, and so forth. There are several reps here that sell Normas, ADRs, Ligier, etc.
The IMSA lites series unfortunately has some things tied up because the series organizer (Panoz) has interest in the top level spec car L1 Elan DP. The L2 class is lightly subscribed and the L3 class is nonexistent. There were no L3 entrants at Sebring. A way to bring these cars in to get a taste of the series is to swap out the L3 class for the Speed series class rules set to have them run in the mix. This will allow the show to sell itself. I think it would make a good show and the drivers and spectators would love it. That said, it makes too much sense. I guess it will never work. |
