For certain, one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen on a race track...the one time NASCAR isn't trigger happy on full course cautions.

bonehead move by a complete tool. Funny he didn't mention any of the T-Bone'ing in the post race, or why he was dumped by Ambrose.

Pity he tried to take Ambrose out. It makes me wonder whether he was actually wanted in the GC600, rather than "i need to concentrate on NASCAR". Well, actually he does need to concentrate on not being a tool, in any car

oooooooooooooh that....yes I did see that but had no idea who it was.....jebus murphy what on earth was she thinking? Ive been on tracks a bit and like with downhill skiing or whatever, I just cant understand how someone would not realize how dangerous a corner that was , being blind and guys coming in fairly hot.

very odd. and while she was on the opposite side of the car to oncoming, it still could have done her neck in if she had been T boned.

oh and yes, given the penchant for yellows, and the blind corner aspect, dont know why teh hell yellows werent being waved for the incoming 3 or 4000 lb wheelie things.

I'd love some clarification on flagging.

I gathered yesterday that in the race, yellow meant full course yellow. Blue meant something like a local yellow (not sure if it's a full enforced one or just use your judgment, there's a hazard). Blue with a yellow stripe meant GTFO, you're Derrike Cope driving a superspeedway car on a road course.

Are these the standard flags in auto racing? It seemed a bit odd to me to have the blue used as a caution flag, but maybe I've just never noticed. I feel like when I did karting and we had to take a class on the flags, there was no solid blue.

NASCAR always has to be different, apparently even regarding the flags at a road course. And in being different, I highly doubt they would actually enforce a no pass under blue flag corner rule. Could be wrong....

If it hadn't been a speedway car.....

is Nascar the only group using blue as cautions, and not the "move over you are being lapped" standard?

I should ask this on the marshalling section, but it does seem darn weird not to use universal flag systems....especially for when you have drivers that come from other areas--yes I know stock car was only Americans before, but now its changing and as well, some of the Yanks will have had other racing experience with universal flagging uses. (specifically that a waved blue is to move over let pass)

NASCAR doesn't follow the International Sporting Code (despite being a sub club of the FIA) thus their flag rules are actually quite different to FIA rules.

The blue flag means local caution (which I think is an utterly retarded concept), however a blue flag with a single diagonal yellow stripe means faster car approaching! Combined with the white, green, safety car and black flag being used differently, it's all rather odd.

Great race!

Ambrose the king of road course racing.

Stupid move by Villeneuve. Ending his own race and almost Ambrose's race too.

Still not understand what Robby Gordon did at the end. Strange position to ram the car in front.

Indeed.

I did have some respect for Gordon, for a time, but as soon as he decided to start-and-park to fund his off-road racing and the other adventures he enjoys more than NASCAR, I just couldn't do it.

Maybe I'm just bitter he couldn't give my boy P.J. Jones a decent set of brakes to qualify on at Watkins Glen.
