The new NZV8
I'm finding this all a bit confusing.
MSNZ say "MSNZ owns the designs and jigs for the new car and will not release them for sale until satisfied they are ready for competition." MRX say "Last thursday FG01 was delivered to the Mackenzie team at Albany Toyota in Auckland." I take that to mean they own it as most people seem to believe. NZRacer say "None have been sold as they have not been released for sale." So are they for sale yet or not, and what is the correct price and spec for the new 2012-13 car? |

what's to get?
didn't Mackenzie cough up the money to pay for this car? now what's wrong with it being used as a test mule? there's months of complaining in here about it not being any good.. or people saying they wouldn't buy one without it being tested properly. now you're complaining when they want to prove the car is up to standards before selling it to teams? can't win, huh? |

Linglong tyres are so long lasting that they are nick named “Live Longs” in the tyre trade! They are also famous for their bargain prices.
The LMA8 is no exception and also offers good drainage, high speed ability, high lateral skid protection and good handling stability and traction. A good all round tyre. sounds awesome! throw them on some 15" steel rims and we'll have budget racing at it's best |

Why is the team that has purchased the first of the new jiggers not racing at present?
No show at Teretonga, will they be at Timaru? |

Is the suggestion that once you have one there would be no getting a Schedule TL one back? If a car is eligiable I don't see how they can prevent that. I think by hanging his hat on NZV8 Shayne Harris is backing himself into a corner. Perhaps Sayne's resignation might free the logjam. |

Schedule A is the generic based safety requirements needed. Ex NZV8's have acquired these many times before for NZGT, endurance racing. This will not be a issue at all. |

Again, MSNZ being responsible for permits and logbooks have a vested interest in the running of the NZV8's and keeping their numbers. Last edited by Woolley; 16 Jan 2012 at 13:21. Reason: Removed autocensor avoidance |

And people wonder why all those bad bad men went and started their own motor racing series? Always too sides to every story! So easy to point a finger without really knowing the full story or the facts!!!

If MSNZ did not get involved in the commercial promotion, I doubt that there would ever be much in the way of Tier 1 Events any further south than CHCH,cutting out 2 of the 7 tracks in NZ, and how could that be any good for the whole of NZ that they represent? |

I don't agree that MSNZ are the only entity that could promote Tier 1 south of Christchurch (or even Manfield). MSNZ hold the rights to NZ Championship events (effectively Tier 1). If they put the rights out to a competitive tender all they would need to do is to make a condition of the tender the requirement to run Tier 1 at specified tracks. |

If no one tendered then it would be a pretty sure sign the product is not attractive to the market.
This is the problem that we may be facing right now in that the Tier 1/NZV8 product as it is currently structured looks like it may not be a viable commercial proposition - should it be financially propped up by MSNZ club members (and through them all grass roots competitors) when more than 95% of them having nothing to do with Tier 1? I enter and race a number of cars but as far as I can see I get nothing from MSNZ's involvement in TMC except increased entry, licence and other fees. Does it really matter at the end of the day if MSNZ gets no financial gain from the running of Tier 1 events and just provides the rights to a number of circuits - no financial gain is a lot better than the current situation which costs MSNZ $$ to run Tier 1. The shareholders agreement MSNZ has with TMC means that MSNZ can never receive a dividend or profit share for it's majority shareholding. This is done for tax reasons (to preserve MSNZ's tax exempt status) but it is not a great investment when you can't get any returns. |

It would be quite interesting to see the numbers of spectators that attend these events in the north and south island. Usually Timaru has a fair amount of spectators. On the other hand Pukekoe did not look popular from what you see on TV anyway. Just curious

The link for part 3 of the #003X chassis build. Times are tough in the world of V8 racing, and certain people haven't helped the situation, but I think MSNZ is doing what they can to save their number 1 class and if that means buying the jigs etc for the new car, then so be it. They don't want repeat of their first idea walking out the front door (ST). |

i'm with you Sidewayz
a lot of people saying MSNZ/TMC shouldn't do this or shouldn't do that.. yet if they did nothing.. the NZV8 class would dead and buried. |

These classes were mainly made up of existing classes, put together to make a (so called) new class. In doing so deminishing numbers in there own particular well run series. Facts: Pukekohe:Sports GT 0 S.I entries, 9 total: Production GT 0 S.I entries 12 total. Ruapuna: Sports GT 2 N.I entries, 17 total: Production GT 3 N.I entries 14 total. Teretaunga: Sports GT 1 N.I entry, 10 total: Production GT 3 N.I entries, 26 total. So far 1 Sports GT competitor has completed all rounds. (TMC) employee 2 Production GT competitors have completed all rounds MSNZ should be applauded for making these new Championship Classes. |
