Montagny called the R18 a fat ugly car before the race

Doesn't matter what was said or done at the time. What matters is Audi need drivers and one of the best guys is just sitting there on the sidelines.
It's been discussed at decent length anyway on the forum where AGD cited some examples of spats which didn't get in the way of drivers being hired. Not long to wait now... |

The official name for the hybrid car is "Audi R18 e-tron quattro". See http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...1949771&type=1

Liking the livery on that #1 car. Wonder if they will only have the two different liveries for the e-tron and regular cars.

The new R18's have the fender holes? It seems that they may have them from the few photos here, but it could also be the black paint/decals.

Audi is always silly with their naming of cars. First they give the iconic R8 name to a mere road car, then they name the R8 GT3 "LMS" even though there are no GT3s in the Le Mans Series... just cringeworthy if you ask me. |

Definitely looks futuristic with the livery and name. How fast it'll be now has to be seen!

At least Audi's hybrid solution drives the front wheels momentarily. Peugeot called its hybrid car the "908 Hybrid4", but the hybrid system was connected to the rear wheels

The R18 Ultra (AKA TDI) does have the pushrod shrouds like the 2011 cars did, while the R18 E tron doesn't and seems to have a different nose box bodywork to cover the electric motors--could both cars have different suspension? After all, the release says that both cars share tubs and most of the other parts.
And both cars have a carbon gearbox casing per Audi's release. Edit: Both cars do seem to be fitted with different nose--the Ultra is fitted with the sprint race nose from last year's R18. |
