You can deduce that from the ancient chassis Libra is using. A more contemporary Oreca/OAK/Lola would be a better gauge of that Roush engine's potential. But for now, just getting some mileage and data from it would be very helpful.

Does anyone know why it only completed 185 laps?

Haha, you're right on, Victor.
I'm not disappointed in their result. I bet there was some useful data and experience gained in that six hours that they couldn't have picked up in an additional 2000 miles of private testing at NCCAR. I was just wondering if it was technical issues, slow pit stops, penalties, mistakes or simply a lack of pace combined with little niggling things that put them behind even a car that suffered serious crash damage (the 055). Duarte Felix da Costa said they had problems 2 hours from the end because of overheating problems. But continued.

I will go ahead and ask the question that I cannot figure out in sport car racing. Why don't projects like this Libra Radical, Lavaggi, WR, Norma, etc. just buy a proven chassis and just run that instead of running their own built stuff (and this happens in the GT classes as well)? You would think that it would cost less and the results would be far better.

therein lies the beauty of sportscar racing - being able to do something a little different, a little strange.
also, if everyone drives the same car, we might as well make all the classes 'challenge' classes surely? The other thing to consider (and I think Aston tried this in 2011) is that you can receive rule breaks and waivers with a different car you couldn't do otherwise. I don't mind them being slower if they provide a different sight, a different sound and a different philosophy. |

I guess that's the confirmation that they won't run 2 cars at Petit Le Mans.

I think you are right, unless they get funding for this second car which is unlikely.
