Stefano Domenicali has resigned....
...from his post as Team Principle of Scuderia Ferrari.
Official announcement coming soon. Has been coming for a while now. Ferrari will win this weekend now that Domenicali's out. |

I know Karun Chandok tweeted it and he usually has his ear to the ground on these things.

Is that 4 team principals left top teams in a matter of months?

It's turning into football management this, even if Whitmarsh had it coming as soon as Dennis returned.
I wonder if he'll end up in League One helping with Prema's F3 hopefuls, in that case. |

The news is still to be confirmed. But if Domenicali's resignation has indeed taken place, it was simply inevitable. I was never convinced he could deliver what is predecessor has delivered. In fact, every time the Scuderia is led by Italians, they seem to disappear from the top.

Already started a thread about Briatore going to Ferrari.
Phase 1, complete. Phase 2, engage. |

It's almost like they deliberately announced this now knowing that the Red Bull case will get the headlines at the end of the day

It was just a matter of when... And today was a good day, as says p-matt.
This is just an opinion from someone who knows very little about how Ferrari is managed, but it seems to me that the problem here could be Luca Montezemolo who wants the team to have as many italians as possible even if they are not the best person available for the job. And choosing Mattiacci only increase this feeling. |

How did that work out for him?
Competitive is not the word I would have used. Another word beginning with the letter 'C' comes to mind. |

I got the impression that Mattiacci is a tempory boss from looking at the Autosport news. I suspect it is while Luca goes searching for RB who has phone turned off while fishing!

I've just read Stefano Domenicali's resignation speech, it reads like something Ron Dennis would have written!
I think it's a shame that he's fallen on his sword for the sake of Ferrari, but (pretty much like Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren) the man at the top has to take overall responsibility. I'm (apparently) starting to like the wrong people, as I liked Whitmarsh and I also liked Domenicali, mostly for the same reasons. They appeared to always give an honest answer and didn't just sugar-coat things with a pile of corporate-speak (which is the polite way of saying b-s!), plus they waould both usually smile kindly at the dumb interviewer and politely answer their dumb questions! I think he will be missed, and it will be interesting to see if or where he crops up next! |
