According to this weeks Auto Action, the crowds weren't huge and only 85 people bought the pit pass upgrade.
The event was put on by Ferrari Australia and apparently cost them 2million to do so. A scaled down event is in the pipeline for 2015, with a bigger event every 2nd year. |

The quoted average of $10 is based on the ticketek price. It would have been $30 per day if you just rocked up - which, I think is extortion - especially at a place like Winton. It isn't the greatest presented circuit in the country (along with a heap more) but to be honest you can't see much and you certainly don't get an extra $20 value over other tracks that charge $10 for the day. Bathurst is $40 for 4 days, but then goes to $25 per day for a single day ticket, so it's cheaper to buy a 4 day. Pricing for motorsport events is getting out of hand. |

If it is - I wonder how many people (like me) didn't go at all because of the excessive paddock pass price. |

Apparently the CEO of Ferrari Aust was happy with the crowd numbers.
I wouldn't have thought selling just 85 paddock passes would have made much of a dent in the reported $2 million it cost to put on the event. |

Just sayin. |

I highly doubt selling tens of thousands of tickets was ever on Ferraris agenda. It was a massive marketing exercise, and aimed at Ferrari lovers and current owners. It either appealed to you or it didn't.

From what I could see, there were more than 85 people in the pits. Perhaps that should have been 85 per cent?

My mate ended up going on the Saturday and said it was ok, but not worth the $$$. Crowds were light on and the F1 would barely do more than 2 consecutive laps before pulling into the pits. The 333SP was there which was a highlight. Interestingly they were also charging Ferrari club members something like $80 each to do a couple of laps behind a pacecar on top of entry. So the extortion was not confined to the general public.

A few observations.I went on the Sunday and while the crowd wasn't huge it was several multiples of the number at Rennsport last year."Racing Days" was an unfortunate title as people may have thought that actual racing was a major component rather than the 1 race per day that was held.Ferrari Festival or Classic would be a more honest title. The race program was a contender for the worst such publication produced. There was no entry list for the 1 class racing and no details/history of the F1 cars and the 333 at the meeting.I was at a merchandise stall when one of the organisers asked the person working there how many programs she had sold that day. When she said 3 I was tempted to add that they all deserved refunds. Finally based on the number of people there and that no one ever seemed to be at the tent where you bought pit upgrades I am guessing that 85 was the number sold. The people in the pit area would have been corporates rather than us of the paying public.
