View Poll Results: Where will the WEC US round 2017 be held?
Circuit of the Americas (early September? with PCW?) | 17 | 36.96%
Indy - plenty of history and, more importantly, plenty of run off | 6 | 13.04%
Montreal - close enough to the US border and would serve US N-E audience very well | 8 | 17.39%
Road America - the only right choice but lots of 'upgrading' to do to please the FIA blue blazers | 7 | 15.22%
no US (or Canadian) round at all - the WEC doesn't need a race there anyway... | 6 | 13.04%
somewhere else in North or South America (Brazil???) | 2 | 4.35%

We'll have to agree to disagree as, to me, it's easily the worst as even the likes of Bahrain has one or two nice medium speed corners. Mexico consists of mostly slow corners and just a couple of underwhelming medium speed ones, the ultimate Mickey Mouse track. The only feature of it is it's altitude and therefore high top speeds on the main straight. I won't be surprised if the WEC race there will be one of the most boring races the series ever had. I know you think differently about it so, as I said before, we'll have to agree to disagree
and to think the track was like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7_uESKWuBw Last edited by Artur; 21 Aug 2016 at 19:54. |

Bringing back the Peraltada would go a long way to restore the track to its former glory. |

Physically impossible, the old Peraltada was wiped out by building construction forever ago and the new tight one with no runoff isn't a suitable corner to anyone but NASCAR. Even if they don't run the arena they'll put a chicane where it's entered like later Champ Car events.

The Nürburgring started out great last year and pretty much all spectators came back this year, which is a sure sign that people are happy with the value they get for their money. |

It does depend on venue, namely if the locals seem interested, and if said venue can also get people to travel to them. Nurburgring has done well both in '15 and '16, but the track itself represents road racing car culture and will always get a good crowd for international and national events.
COTA has struggled since 2013, be it issues with track management, weather issues (heat and severe thunderstorms on occasion), timing (September where football interest picks up in TX and the US overall, while road racing is by and large a niche sport in NA), or a combination of those issues. At least at Mexico City, it won't be insanely hot (mid 70's all weekend), but that's probably due to altitude (over 6500ft above sea level), and aside from Thursday, there's a chance of showers each day as of now. All days this weekend are forecast to be partly cloudy, but Friday and Saturday have about a 40-50% chance of rain. |

Mexico round has a very popular Latin American singer as part of the attraction. Seems the promoters got this one right.

The promotor is Ricardo González.
I think they are doing a good job and the track will be packed bt they are literally giving away thousands of tickets for free too (which cna work since there is sponsorship money anyway). The problem I see is that they only allowyour ticket for the specific section in which you are and many are numbered. From what I can recall that does not happen in Europe (certainly not in Spa). The magic of a race like this one is to go around the track but here you're screwed to either tehe baseball stadium or the front stretch...For six hours. |

That's not fun. Can you at least walk around and view from other areas?

If it's for free you can't complain.
Besides, it would fit the copy-and-paste-F1-strategy perfectly well. |

That would make sense if every circuit followed the same routine. But that's not the case and seems to be something this particular circuit wants to enforce (or so it seems).

Numbered seats in endurance racing is no fun, one of the best things is to roam around the track to watch the action from multiple locations. I haven´t seen allocated seats in Silverstone, Spa or Nurburgring.

Not being allowed to wander around at an endurance race would be absolutely terrible.

Well if the previous COTA dates had poor attendance with IMSA as the coheaderliner, then 2017 is going to be absolutely brutal without IMSA there and PWC at the same track a couple of weeks earlier. I really doubt that Austin can support three major sports car racing weekends a year, with two of them being in September only a couple of weeks a part. The only question is who drops the circuit first.

F1 may not be back next season at COTA. There is still an ongoing fight over payment....

Perhaps this is paramount to blasphemy, but I think it might suit all, to make the Sebring 12 hours, a WEC event again.
It's a great endurance event, and putting it back on the International Calendar, would benefit the event, and the series. As far as IMSA... there is a cost issue already, with the expanded racing time from the combined Grand Am and ALMS days, reducing running time by nine hours, might be a good way to start reducing some of the track time, to try and bring some costs in line Run the IMSA 2:45 on Sunday... |

Also it would be a great start to the season and mix up the length of the races which needs to happen to add some variety |

Sebring WEC was also chaotic with more than 50 cars on track. Running without the GTD could improve but it wouldn´t be fair to them.
