Nick De Vries
Despite the win today do you think he has been found out a bit this year, i have to be honest i have never been overly impressed with him, he was sensational in karts but then look at the size of him, it seemed to take him a huge amount of time to win in FR2.0, he was hardly dominant in FR3.5 last year and Leclerc and Albon have shown him the way in the ART cars this year, i think McLaren have been incredibly patient with him, surely they would have expected a few more championships on his way up the ladder?

haven't been following his season, but perhaps skipping out of 3.5 after a season was a bad move?

yes he is very disappointing. Was much more promising in kart. I think he'll lose his McLaren support the next years and then it could be difficult. Not sure if he makes in F1, I think it's more and more unlikely.

Staying in 3.5 would have been a waste as there is NOBODY of note in it

Not convincing enough for F1 maybe, but certainly a capable driver with potential for a professional career imo

Um, it meant a helluva lot for many years when you look at the illumni so it would mean something. I reckon had 2-4 hotshots signed up, everyone wouldn't be going on about it.
The shame is how much everyone seemingly relied on the Renault connection and now its a shadow of its former self. |

Completely agree with OP, he has been very underwhelming for a while and no idea what McLaren are doing but...Money talks!
