If it's true, this sucks. Monaco would have been great for TCR. Someone, somewhere has blundered.

If, and it's a big if, TCR announced this without even speaking to the ACM, that's both cack-handed and unprofessional.

In Italian: http://it.motorsport.com/turismo/new...c-open-858814/
But there is also a section in the GT Sport website, so I think it's official. |

This is going to be interesting, with so many varieties of touring car specification around the world, putting in an open championship like that should be exciting. If only they could get some star names to join

Well, there other series is GT Open and it's pretty much all-GT3 and tends to get mediocre grids...

Wasn't SEAT Leon Eurocup part of GT Open during most weekends?

The TC Open will be open to similar touring cars, like old Super 2000.

Interests for TCR in the UK. Maybe a rival for the BTCC?

Not a chance. Absolutely zero of this happening.

Can't see that the UK could support two very similar touring car championships.

I can't see Gow letting there be a rival series, unless it becomes a saloon feeder

If it happens, that's fine. I would predict 27 people watching it.
As Lotti says, the big backers would be in BTCC has the exposure is excellent. This would have to be at 'club' level. |

BTCC is clearly a historical category, TCR could not be a serious contender. Maybe as a support series it could work.

Having a British TCR championship doesn't necessarily mean that it attempts to take drivers and fans from the BTCC.

You really think we have the drivers, teams, fans and sponsors to support two championships for hatchbacks and small saloons with two-litre turbo engines?

There's no room and no need for a TCR championship next to the BTCC.

BTCC has also a strong TOCA package with the Clios that are launching a lot of young guns. A Btcc second tier championship last year failed to come fruition: it was the B-Tec Development series if I'm not wrong
