And Then... There Were 5... (WITH POLL)
One race meeting left in the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship Series.
A trip to Newcastle, a place none of the teams has seen, tested on, had any notes for, had an old hand in the driver’s seat able to call corners from memory.. 300 points still to play for.. And we have 5 mathematical contenders for the Driver’s Championship.. Who’s going to be the 2017 VASC Driver’s Champion? |

I'd be surprised if it's neither Whincup nor McLaughlan.

Reckon this will be split on party lines.
If whincup finishes both races in last postion, he still beats SVG and Chaz If whincup finishes 2nd in each race he is the champion. Very close, but 2 horse race i reckon unless the top 2 trip over majorly Last edited by peckstar; 5 Nov 2017 at 05:42. |

Wouldn't be surprised next year if Whincup wins the championship that the team gives Van Gisbergen the #88 while Whincup runs #1

What becomes of the #1 if Scotty wins the championship?
Dick always retained the #17 back in his time, but Bowe swapped the #18 for #1 in 1996. |

Coulthard still thinking title despite deficit
mathematically needs to win and hope jamie doesn't finish in the top 15 and scott doesn't finish in top 10 in both races |

888 I can understand, but does 88 hold significance for RBHRT?
SVG chose to run 97 instead of 1 this year, so I doubt he would be keen on changing to 88...97 obviously has fair meaning for him being his father's number and the number he used in junior categories. Hope JW wins (hope a Holden wins) but voted Scotty as I reckon he will take it. Will be interesting to see what happens if there is a SC and 97 is ahead of 88 (possible) and/or 12 is ahead of 17 (less likely). Will they give up pit priority to avoid stacking their championship contender? |

It is still bloody cool to have 5 contenders with 2 races to go.
There might be a couple less come Saturday night. |

We could be down to just the one on saturday night, or we could still have 5 (or any combination in between) Probably the ideal path for Sunday for all fans, is Scott beats Jamie by enough on Saturday that either driver has to win on Sunday to guarantee the title. 99% going , deciding in next 24 hours Last edited by peckstar; 6 Nov 2017 at 01:43. |

Five were in with a shot at the last round in 1999, but that was helped by double points being on offer

Mention on Speedcafe post about the aero testing for the new Commodore, that Mr Whincup had a night in hospital during the week, still not 100% after the dodgy sandwich in NZ!
Hopefully a can or two of Red Bull, and Dutto should have him running on all 8 cylinders! |
