[VASC18R11R12] Perth Supersprint, Wanneroo Raceway, 4-6 May 2018

Almost time to make the annual journey across the country to Wanneroo Raceway.

This venue is more abrasive than a Kelvinmonster v’s TC meeting of the 2000’s

888 seem to hang on here okay, concern about the need to take off all the aero load to keep splitters alive is an interesting development ifea for ZB..

Too many choices...

#1 for the win?

cavvy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Disappointing lack of promotion of the event on the east coast, wondering if Tourism WA is still involved.

I'd say it's far from point and shoot, personally. You need a car with really good balance to nail the sweepers and the right up the hill and that's where time is haemorrhaged badly if a car is poorly balanced.

And Jason Bright still holds the Supercars lap record from 2004 when the track was freshly resurfaced and only 3 seconds slower than Gary West's outright record. Perhaps Stanaway can break it this year?

At this stage last season after 10 races Brighty had an average starting position of 16.1 and an average finishing position (not inc. DNFs) of 17.6 including 3 top tens. Stanaway has an average starting position of 21.2 and average finishing position (not inc. DNFs) of 21.6 with a best finish of 16th.

Yep, even Brighty with his years of experience (even though his best years were in the past) couldn't get that thing beyond half field. Hardly the weapon of choice for Mr Stanaway or anyone else for that matter to use to break any lap records.

V8s advertising on AFL derby on Fox, 60k odd at the game.

Does Tourism WA have enough pull with both organising bodies to leverage a win/win for both events by fixturing the opportunity to take in both events?

Think they should do that.

We've been up to Townsville twice but the Cowboys were not playing there that weekend. When I asked why, I was told that they were deliberately scheduled apart as "there's not enough accommodation"

Shame really as we would have gone to both...

Same at Symmons Plains - there is never an AFL game in Launceston that weekend (although we did zip down to Hobart last year for the Giants v North match)

Perhaps they feel that people will sacrifice one for the other, as opposed to those who've travelled in, and want to kill two birds with stone.

The tourism bodies typically try to avoid such double headers so that they get more room nights booked over the year. The more weekends have different events on, the better they feel about it. That is why the Canberra street race was scheduled on the cold June long weekend - quiet weekend normally in Canberra and they wanted an event on then to stimulate things.

Not that I care but not even people from WA can get tickets to watch the football despite all the billions the government spent on that useless stadium. Accommodation isn't a problem.

Despite the porn shops, it was very hard to get stimulated on that cold weekend.

The Saturday afternoon game this weekend is a West Coast Eagles Fixture and 99.9% of the seating is already taken up by members. So generally you wont find many travelling to watch the games here.
