MG David is over at Zandvoort and heading to Copenhagen from there. I will be leaving very early Wednesday morning. This trip has had added complications as we lost a Delta mechanic"Dennis" a couple of weeks ago and i need to fly back Sunday night from Copenhagen for funeral. Will then cadge a lift back out to Nurburgring for old Timers GP>. Looking forward to both races.
David had a head gasket go out in Zandvoort I have not heard how he got on. Last I heard he was swapping engines. |

Plan to arrive at Copenhagen around noon Thursday. Will, as in the past years, go back home to Sweden (500 km one way) Sunday evening to leave the Copenhagen car in my garange and load another one for the Nürburgring OGP. Two of the best races every year.

Yes, i speak Danish, you need a translation?
Here you go: Iain Rowley is on track for a new class victory "The Brit Iain Rowley was at Bellahøj Park last year with a Lola Mk5, and battled in the Formula Junior class with his fellow Brits Noel Woodford in a Gemini Mk3A and Robin Longdon in a Lola Mk2 as well as Swede Christer Larsson in a Cooper T52, Danes Ole Vejlund in a Volpini FJ and Nikolaj E. Mortensen in a Brabham BT15 and many others. Rowley put on a strong drive and secured pole position ahead of Robin Longdon and Norwegian Petter Huse in a Focus MkIV. In the two Formula Junior heats, he dominated and won overall ahead of Woodford and John Sykes in a Merlin Mk5. Rowley is back again this year, behind the wheel of the fast Lola Mk5, which he borrowed last year from Ian Robinson, because his own Lotus 22 wasn't finished, after a violent seven car pile up during a race start in 2015. Now his mantra is "what man made, man can rebuild", so he undauntedly started rebuilding his Lotus. However it wasn't ready for last years Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix. That got handled by borrowing Ian Robinsons Lola Mk5. During the 2016-2017 winter the bend Lotus chassis was rebuild and ready for the new body, which a good friend had given a lack of paint. When Rowley asked for the name of the color, the answer was "Denmark Blue"! Very appropriate for last years class winner in CHGP, even if his Lotus 22 is left at home, because he again is entered in a Lola Mk5. There is 23 cars entered this year, but keep an eye out for car number 74, it has the front wheels pointed towards a new class victory." Enjoy reading |

Just a word about Ole Vejlund who is mentioned in the article. He was racing 1 Litre F3 as long ago as 1966. I first met him in about 1976 (when he was doing 2 Litre F3). In recent years he's been racing his Reynard FF2000 in the German FF series. A really nice guy and, in period, a contemporary of Ronnie Peterson and Reine Wisell (he beat them on occasion).

You don't want 2 watches Iain, time just goes twice as quickly ... Something drinkable like Mike's award seems more sensible, IMO. Has any anyone protested the faster engines? |
