It's a half-joke that came out in that round-table talk.
Team Tsuchiya (#25) can take a no-tire-change strategy.
Of course Tsuchiya have their own efforts to take that strategy,
however FIA-GT3 users say it is unfair.
So Tsuchiya feel that they don't have any whereabouts in GT300 class.
Therefore, they concluded that JAF-GT300 and MC should move to the privateer class of JAF-GT500.
So This is not an official proposal.

Then the MC 86, Toyota Prius GT, Subaru BRZ and Lotus Evora MC will be in GT500 the next year. Will the engine be the same of this year with more power? Or will that engine be the same of GT 500?

Sounds like it's a proposal, not so much a guarantee.

Yes. it's just a proposal in the magazine.
GTA won't accept it.
But imagine Tsuchiya challenges to factory GT500 teams.
Engine swap will be needed. But MC chassis could be used in the GT500 field.

Nope, not gonna happen if you ask me. I mean, the last time we got a privateer GT500 team was in 2009 and still got beaten by works team.

Given massive amounts of resources from GT500 manufacturers, I don't think there will be competitive privateer team in GT500.

Suppose that a team like Tsuchiya Engineering wants to step up to GT500, they have to join as Lexus GT500 squad, assuming they still keeping ties with Toyota brand.

Their ability to keep single set of tyres in 2 stints is the testimony of how the team crafts the strategy in the race & knowing their car's potential.

That tire life might have to do with the car itself and not so much the team. I don't know if that would carry over into GT500 unless they built a car themselves on the shared chassis/monocoque. But for which manufacturer? A new one would be cool to see but I feel it's all wishful thinking.

Hoping that it's an expansion, not a replacement over an existing team.

And they are considering to support SGT program as Red Bull.
They also want to expand driver researching program also in Japan.

Upcoming Autosport magazine reports Class 1 regulations and future SGT.
Surprisingly, Honda might withdraw from SGT in 2020.
In Class 1 regulations, there is a minimum production number regulations (100 cars) for base car. This is a problem for Honda.
Autosport is saying the gossip that Honda might use Aston martin chassis in connection with Red Bull.

Honda can't produce 100 cars? Is this because of the mid engine layout of the NSX? It would be weird to see Aston Martin instead of a Honda in Super GT.

What a great shame if class1 forces Honda out of SGT, why can't people just leave things alone

Honda is pretty much a mini-van company now that doesn't know the sports car or luxury market. So there been talks of Honda working with Aston Martin and Red Bull for the Sports Car and Luxury Market.(design by RB, built by Aston Martin, powered by Honda) But that would be only in RB/AM Mid-Engine Sports Cars.

Class 1 is FR.

Autosport's story is like this.
There is a rumor that Aston Martin wants to participate in DTM by its own chassis and Honda NRE engine.
So Honda might divert this Aston chassis to SGT.
Of course, this story wouldn't be realized.

JAF publishes 2019 technical regulations.
http://jaf-sports.jp/cms_file/cms/cm...2841_00001.pdf

**JAF-GT300
3.1.3) Wheelbase
Vehicles with a wheelbase of 2,601 mm or more can be extended up to 2%. (2018 regulation admitted up to 1%)
In this case, extension of the wheel base must be carried out by adjusting the position of the axle before the A pillar and / or behind the C pillar.
3.3.3.2) Opening of fender
The term "air after brake cooling" changed to the term "air in the wheelhouse."
3.3.7) Flat bottom, Floor
In order to equalize performance, JAF can change the thickness of the spacer with prior notice even during the season.
5.1) Engine type and position
Only the way of regulation has been changed.
The Grandfather rule that it is possible to change the engine mounting position of vehicles manufactured before 2016 was deleted. (In a word, Prius GT can't run in 2019.)
5.3.1.3) Engine with supercharging device
Installation of the air restrictor is exempted only when supercharging pressure limit is implemented.

**JAF-GT300MC
3.3.3.2) Opening of fender
The term "air after brake cooling" changed to the term "air in the wheelhouse."
3.3.7) Flat bottom, Floor
In order to equalize performance, JAF can change the thickness of the spacer with prior notice even during the season.
3.3.18) Reinforce
The provision that processing and changing of roll cage is possible if JAF permission is made was deleted.
5.2) Engine position
Only the way of regulation has been changed.

I think if it's got a weakness it's the weight of the car. Maybe they are working on getting that lower. It also hurts tire wear especially if the bop adds more weight to the car.
