Checked thread title looked interesting but did not realise it was exclusive to Australians? for the record I think the first motorsport event ,possibly the first sport event I atended was London-Brighton veteran car run when revived after WW2

Albert Park 1957 watching Lex Davison (grandfather of Will and Alex) and Stan Jones (father of Alan) race Ferrari 500 and Maserati 250F. A year later I remember running alongside Stirling Moss (being interviewed by legendary journo Mike Kable) as he headed for a helicopter to go Melbourne Airport. I was 11 or 12 years old!

1991 Gold Coast Indy.

Living next to Alan Jones I was invited to a Friday night party and met so many of these drivers, but I had no idea who they were.

Addiction to motorsport was well truly alive.

My first race attended was at the quarter mile dirt oval at Sterling, IL sometime in the mid 1960s. Grandfather took us kids to see one of his friends' son race a 1955 Ford stock car.

First professional races were the USAC dirt champ cars and USAC stock cars on the one mile oval at Springfield IL circa 1970. Foyt, the Unsers, Mario were all regulars on dirt at the time. Quite a lot of history at the track. Wish I'd been there more often.

First road race was the CanAm at Road America in 1981.

The first "official" motorsport event I attended was a motorcycle meeting at Brands Hatch in 1961, I went on my pushbike and climbed over the fence as I didn't have enough money. Now I am retired I still don't

I went to heaps of events on the Island back in the mid to late 60's and early 70's, none of any mention - I do remember Brock in the Austin, I remember Bevan Gibson, I spoke to him a lot.

The first ATCC event I clearly remember was at Sandown, probably either late '75 or mid '76. I really can't remember
