Dashcam guy was lucky he/she wasn't taken out. Also tranny driver probably needed a change of trousers.
Isn't that what tranny's are known for?

Subtle.......

Just been checking (again) the HGV restrictions for traversing Austria. To suggest they don’t want trucks is probably an understatement- the document runs to 17 pages...... I think only Swissland is more restrictive!

How will you be affected after next March with new permit restrictions if no deal exit? I get emails from the .Gov websites and they keep sending updates on permit applications, it seems we'll be back to the 1970s situation of heavy restrictions for UK hauliers in Europe

No! John, the shiny SLR owner was ‘invited’, but the logistics were crazy. After return from Imola the car would have had to have been re-prepped in a few days (including have all fluids drained), then taken to Luxembourg (I think it was) to be air frighted to Bahrain......

I was trying to persuade him to have it containered to Oz for Phillip Island instead, but it fell on deaf ears......

Tim, I have absolutely no idea..... Neither does anyone else, I fear!

Was laughing just now while watching (on tv) a ground crew trying to open the cockpit of a Typhoon jet, which they couldn’t because the plane had lost hydraulic pressure while parked. Reminded me of the problem with some trucks where the gearbox is operated by air pressure (like I-shift). If you leave the truck in gear and the pressure drops, you then can’t get it out of gear and it won’t start because of an isolator switch.....

I am so glad that I am not in business any more. It would seem as though the dimwits (I chose that word as what I would have called them would never have got past the inbuilt censorship algorithm) that are our MPs seemed determined to turn the clocks back to a time that they never experienced.

They all tell us what we want, and that is a period in our history that they were either too young to have truly experienced it, and/or they have never lived and worked in the real world. And here I am talking about the Johnsons, Goves, Rees Smugs and Bones of this world.

Not one of them has held a proper job in his life.

An there's a good reason why, they couldn't! Then they become politicians. When you know what it takes - masters, experience, tests…- to become general sales manager for a mid size company involved on the international scene, do you think many of them could be successful? May be in England, but the last two here wouldn't never ever have been hired by any serious company.

Same everywhere I fear, Gerard......

Appears that the ECMT permits that trucks could need if it all goes A over T are severely restricted in number, and only Euro4 and above compliant vehicles are eligible to apply! And the need for them would apply to trucks coming from Europe to the UK as well....

I wonder what happened to the couple of ladies who doled them out from the little office in Newcastle? Will they be wheeled back out from the deep freeze to resume their duties? There was always a healthy black market in permits, not to mention the counterfeits which were rife, and companies were bought and sold on the strength of their allocation.

Hey, Meesta....wanna buy some dodgy permits?

I appreciate that 10/10ths is not the place for politics, but I must admit that Brexit really gets my goat. And if it's not our political masters telling us how wonderful it will all be once we are out from under the yoke of Brussels, but I also get it from one of my sons (the other one is sensible, and agrees with me about it being a bad decision).

What surprises me is that my son is a tax specialist at one of the big accountancy firms, and advises companies and governments in the Far East about tax affairs in the UK. And his firm are against Brexit, so he has to pretend at work that he is as well, and has to tell his clients how bad it could be for trade.

What upsets me most is that he has been headhunted by another of the huge firms, and he has just handed in his 6 months notice - 5 months of which he will probably be on gardening leave. But to get this new job, he had to maintain the stance that he is against Brexit. And for that, he is getting a minimum uplift of salary, which would be an amount that many people would be quite happy to receive as their total earnings.

They just don't inhabit the world that I do!

You paint such a lovely picture, Colin!

For any ex Lotus employees on here, good news that the company have had planning approval for two of their projects- A ‘customer Experience’ centre and roof terrace above the ‘clubhouse’. Plans for a museum not been put forward for consideration yet.....

That brings back memories, especially of the counterfeits of a certain country (began with I and ended in aly) that were done on the correct watermarked paper. Then there was the time that most of a certain fleet of trucks were held at Mont Blanc with twelve permits all with the same number.

(Actually not entirely true but the Salad Cream is not as one remembers it and the Sandwich Spread - I spotted some last year and decided it had to be tried as possibly suitable for the Grandson's introduction to history by the medium of food - was incredibly bland. So I didn't foist it on him.)

They don't by any chance stock Pan Yan pickle do they John? That really does seem to have vanished entirely.
Grant,I'm sorry to tell you I have checked in Auchan today & there is no sign of Pan Yan pickle; they do have plenty of Patak's stuff though.

I also notice the section is now called 'Americaine' rather than British, although the stock appeared to be remarkably similar.

Don't worry John, it's probably just a ruse by the management to slowly sneak the prices up!

What about "italian dressing" when looking for "vinaigrette" or something said to be close to

A friend of mine, Coc on his weekends, use to work for Delta. He was officially asked to make translations English to American and vice versa by his employer! Not really a piece of cake…

This one takes the cake, John! Very good I keep it for further use if you allow me.
Of course no offense intended to "your" delta of course, should have been more accurate and precise Delta Airlines

One of my Yorkies is petrified by fireworks and Jack "Mussels", the other one doesn't give a penny for those! Who knows why? Yes, the answer could be WTH…

John, did you have a look to the fantastic finish of the Route du rhum, ocean race? I loved this version of old but good… The way Francis Joyon played with his young and pretentious competitor's nerves is so enjoyable. And with a totally outdated machine and modesty. Classy, no?
