Gordon Sneddon and Matt Neal made the long trip out UK > Aus to drive an Audi R8 LMGT3 but sadly third driver Peter Storey binned it hard enough to put it out for the weekend in the Am drivers only P1. Sneddon and Neal never even got a lap!.

Looks like I owe SVG an apology - the Ferrari driver has been held to be mainly responsible and has received a grid penalty. The Fazza will be (apparently) running in tomorrow morning's practice after rebuilding the front end, and getting a new bonnet couriered up overnight.

Unlike UK, marshals don't go trackside on a live track unless instructed. Also they don't have 'incident' marshals as we do at every post. Firies are posted in pairs and the nearest to that point are probably driver's right opposite the LH apex, so quite a way away.

Wow they are dropping like flies. I have never seen a race with so many crash related withdraws BEFORE the race begins. Bathurst consistently has 2-3 every year .

At what point might it be concluded that this track isn't suitable for modern GT3 cars?

NEVER, I hope.

Srsly. It's one of the last throwbacks that is just daunting and punishes harshly for mistakes. As long as the overall product remains fun and safety can be managed, game on. The drivers and teams no what they're getting into.

tbh, the GT3 stuff is confusing. The cars are getting faster and faster. The whole point in GT3 and the BoP system that it has is that it'd keep everyone at a level playing field, and that helps keeps costs under control. But the BoP has slowly raised the lap times too.

If there are safety concerns at Bathurst, then lets just BoP the cars down a little. Yeah nobody likes slower cars, but I'd rather have GT3 there than not, and it's not like we can argue BoP and GT3 don't go together.

GT3 cars are difficult to repair with the resources available on hand.

Many a Supercar or back in the day a Group A car, can be severely damaged a repaired within a reasonable amount of time.
