Stuart, no help I'm afraid, I just remember being amused as a lad with the combination of Albert Zains and the Flash Special in the program at Brands Hatch. One of my great regrets in life is giving away all of my race programs when I got married due to the limitations of our first home. Many signed by stars of the day, and not so starry.

E.B, juste hope bauble will allow me for a short quizz about DB cars, particular model is HBR 4/5. From a rear view can you, others too 'f course, spot what elements of the body come from a well known French car. Brand is Peugeot… Same era.

This photo is not from my archives, but was sent to me from Europe, by a secret admirer, who asks if anyone can identify the car. It is a quiz question I suspect.

An interesting looking car there Baub. I'm guessing some sort of 'special' and maybe I'm being seduced by the colour but I'd also suggest it may be French.
It (and the similarly coloured car next to it) has very distinctive wheels/hubs which may help someone in the know to identify it...

I do not want to get boring so I have moved a little distance away from 'strictly historic'. I hope that no one disapproves. I think the series is obvious.

I'm going to go out on a limb, here, and hazard a guess that the series is Britcar!

Personally I think that some of the most beautiful cars ever made are from Italy, and this selection of Ferraris is quite stunning. I am sure that not all will agree but it would be shame if we did. How many millions woudl you ned to own one of these?

Thank you for leaving the breadvan out, in my opinion a contradiction to the above.....

GTO’s OK, but 250SWB perfectly proportioned, 275GTB long-nose just perfect...

Don’t suppose anyone has a pic of the green David Piper GTO with the lowed roofline? Returned to original spec subsequently, I believe?

Well done for the DB which you could call a breadvan too, Mike. One other strange DB was the "Vitrine", rather nice seen from behind imo.
If you're talking about chassis # 4491 GT, may be its this one:
http://www.passion-fred.fr/ferrari/2...gt/4491gt.html
As you suppose it went back to its original body before certification.
If you click on "making of" its about a report model.

From this website, the mods were made on 4491 GT, 28th model produced, delivered new in England on the 7th of June 19631, color "BP Green" and RHD. Is this what you were thinking about? It is said that DP bought it to replace 3767 GT, sold to an American gentleman, and campaigned it in '63 with a win at 9 Hours of Kialami in November co-driver Tony Maggs, race number 8, after a race at Luanda.

You say lowered roof line, it must be more than right with no less than 15 centimeters ( is that 6 inches). Seems the second owner, Peter Sutcliffe, was too tall to drive it comfortably, hence a bubble on the roof…

Thanks Gerard, when you see pics of the car with ‘chop’ and without, it’s noticeably different!

Its either brave or totally unconscious! I'm not in the market of the 50 M cars but can't understand why they brought it back to its former shape. Its not "more" authentic like that… May be an Italian job to rewrite history. What do I know?

Yes, it's disappointing the car doesn't retain the low roof, but guess Ferrrari Classiche wouldn't even consider such vandalism when authenticating the car for a subsequent owner…..

Maybe a well-healed racer could have a replica built!

‘La Vitrine’ a bit later, I believe? I find those tiny engined aerodynamic Le Mans ‘specials’ fascinating- maybe you should start a thread in History to talk about them!

Edit- Vitrine before Camionnette?

Had to make some search to answer Mike's question. Why? Because I dont think possible to find an official entry list with this kind of nickname!! Archives say Camionnette in '59 and La Vitrine in '60. If you have a look to the homologation forms, HBR was listed with several displacement, like 848, 851 and 954.
As Mike pointed this team was chasing 'indice de performance" at Le Mans.
Sorry Bob, go back to your collection now!
