Really pleased and surprised to see Bushy back. Him having to drop out before the start of this year was probably my biggest BTCC disappointment this year.
Hopefully he'll have a lot of control over how his car is engineered: he knows his onions. |

In fairness though, it doesn't specifically mention the BTCC, but it's hard not to see Max on the grid in 2020. Edit - beat me to it! |

I've heard nothing of substance - just rumour on here after big Tony tweated 6 ?'s - which turned out to be Goff! Coates is a good lad but I would be pleasantly surprised if he was able to get a BTCC sized budget.

Bit of a waste really. He showed genuine promise in the AMD Honda, but at least he’s on the grid, which isn’t easy in itself.

Maybe my bad I was talking to an engineer next to a FK2 NGTC Car he looked after so assumed he was referring to that, maybe he was talking about the S2000. Cars were all stripped, so no floor there to view.

Good to have Bushell back full time, of course he was supposed to race for HARD last season, before giving his seat up to Goff

Its an interesting to see what PMR do with the engine and how the "Engine can be sourced from a manufacturer’s broad ‘family’ range, including subsidiary marques under their effective control" rule works given the change of ownership. Does that rule pertain to the cars original designer or current owner. The Cadillac ATS and Camaro use the 2.0 and it would just be like Subaru using the Japanese spec WRX STI engine, but PSA don't have a suitable engine in any of their brands.

Not sure if anyone needs tickets for Silverstone but if you do, they’ve for a Black Friday deal on their website - buy tickets for April, get the September ones FOC.

About as close to a 2020 BTCC confirmation as it is possible to be without actually saying it:

No surprise there, he’s unlikely to go anywhere else

Take Civic Chassis NGTC-12-006, built in 2012. 2012-2014 - Honda/Neil Brown engine. 2016-2017 - TOCA/Swindon engine. 2018 - Honda/Neil Brown engine. 2019 - TOCA/Swindon engine. The Vauxhall Astras though have only every run with the TOCA/Swindon unit, and have never had a Vauxhall engine fitted. And currently Vauxhall do not offer a 2.0L petrol engine that could be used. What this does show though is that perhaps the NGTC requirement for a 2.0L petrol is possibly too large an engine for the majority of manufacturers to meet nowadays? The size of unit fitted to road going cars is becoming increasingly smaller, so the TOCA/Swindon engine is becoming the only option. |

but with so much cross-ownership amongst car manufacturers nowadays its a lot easier to find the type of engine to suit. look at vauxhall, they are now part of peugeot citroen fiat alfa chrysler etc. lots of engine choices in lots of different countries around the world! |

Of course the Astra and the Insignia are still powered by GM engines so could they develop a GM engine as that is what its avaliable or do they hace tp use PSA engine as they own Vauxhall?

As has been said there now isn't a suitable engine available, unless they use the 2.0t that was used in the Insignia GSi. Vauxhall aren't part of Fiat Chrysler so couldn't use any of their engines.
