away from f1, i wonder how many of the gt teams are figuring out if they can hire 10 vans and have everyone go backwards and forwards by road as "freight"

In the distant past the guys used to travel in minibuses.Don't see how they could avoid the 14 day quarantine-so how about a bunch of races in the Schengen area after Silverstone and then flying off to anywhere that doesn't have stringent entry requirements for a few more.
Alternatively,just scrub the season. |

They can always hire their own mode of transport. Hope something gets worked out. I miss the racing

Erm, regardless of transport method, there is such a thing as customs and passport control, even if cursory.
I'm assuming that it'll be designated "ports of entry" So they couldn't even get away with channel hopping between small general Aviation fields. |

There is always the option of going via southern Ireland to Northern Ireland and hence to mainland UK. might take longer but not 2 weeks.

Looking at ways to circumnavigate the rules? Travel through Ireland ? Not really observing the reason for the quarantine is it?.....

Don't think it would work. Why would they go there? There's no real circuit there for them to go

Hey, remember, this is an F1 forum/thread, so by nature we/F1 will look closely at the rules and then identify loopholes and ways to cheat the system. Its the F1 way.

So France announces Jun8 as the start of 14 day isolation for overseas visitors -same as UK. How long before Euope follows suit. That will kill any Gp

I did predict earlier that as countries begin to recover they would put more travel & entry restrictions in place.

it's insanity, they're so desperate to get the economy going that they make international travel incredibly difficult?
ffs. |

Most International business is now done remotely, actually the business world has adapted very quickly. Even the the 'powerhouse' city is finding this, one CEO of a city trading firm was amazed to find they have had their best ever trading day performance with all this dealers sat at home, which made him question why they needed big office space anymore. As for other inbound travel, a lot of this is tourism or 'shopism', currently and in the medium term, there is nothing for tourists to do and no major big brand retail for them to visit. Personally having expended all this human and fiscal cost, I think it is perfectly sensible to pause and ask those coming here to quarantine. Bear in mind that is is believed now that the virus was in the UK much earlier than thought (I believe this is similar in other EU countries) and some of this originally came from ONE ski resort, so it is perfectly possible that one 'super spreader' could come into the UK again. |

The gates at the airport are firmly locked down here.We should have done it sooner than we did.Quickest way to shut a virus down.
Any hopes of F1 returing this year look to be on the ropes, about time they threw in the towel and concentrate on doing something next year. |

funny how hong kong can organise the logistics to test all international arrivals and provide quick results, isn't it? i don't believe tourism should be restarted, but we do need to look at non-remote working business travel because that's going to be a small enough number to create a manageable instant testing program. you cannot make all business travel unworkable because "most" business travel is unnecessary. it cripples the "some". |

A lot of people are going to find that business that was previously viable just isn't anymore for the foreseeable future. Like a lot of holiday firms, aviation, events, and many others. Unless they can adapt their business it doesn't really have a future in the short-to-medium term.

my folks business has been going around the world since the 70s when doing business in the far east was a very rare thing. without their technology you'd be posting on dial-up. unfortunately site engineers aren't negotiable (and haven't been since the 70s) and several large projects are on hold (including the relevant completion payment installment) until they can travel again.
the biggest thing we all have going for us is a bunch of very good government business advisors (i'm thinking of one in particular) who will hopefully be banging the drum very loudly for business travel exemptions. i don't think this particular battle is over yet, but it could come too late for silverstone. |

This is something business has the experience to get through. We are thankful for technology, but it’s not easy. Businessman though have the expertise to hopefully get through it
At least the government have business in their minds, so hopefully things will recover. I just hope something is done before it’s too late |
