I would like to say a big thank you to all of the kind people who sent greetings for my birthday on Friday or Saturday, which ever it was. I was touched by your thoughtfulness, deeply touched!

Never mind the doctor assures me I should make a full recovery in time, if I don't excite myself. (Chance would be fine thing)

Kind regards to all who did, and s** the rest.

Baub.

Clearing out a spare room this afternoon I came across a pack of Top Trump cards - the subject being Rally Cars. I don't know when they were issued, but it features vehicles such as the DAF 55 Marathon, Moskvitch, Wartburg, Ford Capri 2300GT, Saab V4, Citroen SM & even a Ferrari 365GTB/4 alongside the usual Escort BDA, Mini Cooper, Datsuns, Porsches & Fiats.

Had our second Javelin Trackday of the 'new' season. Roughly 50 / 50 between road and race cars. Race wise there were a couple of Midgets carrying CSCC stickers, a Frog Eye, a very slow Locost, a pair of Dolomites, 3 Hyundais, 3 new shape MR's, 7 Clios, John Hammersley & Adam Brown shared an Astra, 2 Mk 2 Escorts one in Mick Collard colours driven by Daz Owen and a virgin white one driven with vigour by local Instructor Pete Edwards. Probably the quickest car of all was a blue Darrian closely followed by what looked to me like a Speedworth 2 litre Hot Rod, who was quick in the morning before the engine blew, it was replaced during the lunch break but the replacement was only being 'run in'.
Other cars out, were a pair from the Puma Cup a 1380 'proper' Mini, a Clubmens a Civic and a disappointing Silhouette .

Around a dozen Caterhams were out, probably half race and half road, as were the MX5's. They were joined by a Golf & Beetle, RX8, Audi A3, Honda S2000, Suzuki not so Swift, an equally slow German Mini, an Elise, Impreza and what was probably the fastest road car a M3 Convertible, and the regular French Hot Hatches.

The white Escort that Pete Edwards was driving was an ex Thundersaloon that his Dad used to race.

I used to go to Mallory quite often, but the last time I went a lad called Jonathan Palmer won an F3 race.

Must go again some day.

You might not readily recognise it John.

I was (randomly) looking at some old photos from the past 15 or so years plus a few older YouTube videos and noticed how many trees had been eliminated.

I can understand why ... but even so the nature of the place seems to be somewhat different.

Where are the dates for testing? I'd like to give the MG a run.

Your MG being a road car (or road derived) could come on any Javelin Trackday, for £159, you get 7 hours of a open Pit-Lane. The issue you'd have to look into is noise, because the 98db limit is strictly enforced.

There are two more Formula / Single Seater / Fast Caterham days where the noise limit is 103db. These are on the 25th of August & September.

Just sat and watched P3 from the Grand Prix, I'd forgotten how crap the commentary is, or is that just me?
